Nice choice.... I drink beer when it's cold too..... But when I travel for work, or want something different, 40 creek is the choice....
Anyways, I digress...... I am a Ruger fanboy admittedly.......
Just curious, what is the driver to buy a legendary pro vs a Ruger ultralight vs a kimber Adirondack vs a Forbes?.......
Again, not questioning anyone's purchase and I have paid "stupid" uppers to lose weight or get clearer glass etc... But what is the draw here?.....
I was looking for a 257 Wby with a 26" bbl. specifically, so those choices you listed are out. There aren't many that fit what I wanted. Remington made a 700 CDL SF a while back and I had one with a McMillan EDGE stock, but it didn't "feel" right, for lack of a better word. I've had an Accumark, but it's a bit heavy (8.75 lbs bare).
I don't think these are aimed at the ultralight market like Kimber/Forbes, but rather in between them and something like Cooper. The action is a copy of an Ed Brown 704, which is a CRF, but without the long extractor of the Mauser. I'm not saying it's better or worse, just different.
At $2250 now and the way our dollar is tanking, I can see these going for close to $3k by the end of the year. At the current price, I'd have a hard time rebarreling and restocking an action on what I wanted that's comparable to this one. Plus there's the wait time and sourcing.
Bottom line I guess is that it's just something a bit different. All guns share similarities, there's only so many ways to skin a cat. I just like trying out new toys.
