LEO discount frustration

It is what it is, No point of trying to make sense of it. Remember in the US Mil/Leo dont make as much as up here. They dont have the same gold plated pension either.

So they get better discount.

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence,

Makes me wonder what a vortex is actually worth if they can afford to give that large of a discount to a huge base.

Man....I wouldn't say it better myself.
I have no use for their "Johnny come lately" optics....
Something isn't right (like somebody else observed before) when "best" return policy is more accented than quality of product.

Blame our distributors. They add so much overhead to the final price that retailers can't offer discounts like they do in the US. Quite often a retailer can buy something full retail in the states, pay shipping and duty and still get it cheaper than their wholesale price from the Canadian distributor vampires. While I have little love for our distributors one thing they can't fight is our small market size. The economies of scale just don't work in our favour. That and our Canadian peso.

It may be a huge base, but even if it's 10% of their retail sales they can afford to take a loss on a few. Sell 100 at 800$ a pop great, sell 10 more at 400$ a pop and you only have to mark up the "civilian" sales by 40 bucks each to cover it.

Man you nailed that one...he's our own CGN Rambo.

That's not really fair. He sure likes to post and show off his toys that he seems to work hard for, but I don't even know what he even does in the military, or what branch he's in. Hardly advertises as a high speed operator type.

B]I didn't put the uniform on to save a few bucks when I buy a pair of boots[/B]

Pfft they give you free boots, even worse!

If you signed the dotted line in hopes of receiving recognition, I think it's safe to say you did it for the wrong reasons.
I have never met anyone who signed the dotted line to be looking for recognition. We’ll leave that to the stolen valor guys. I know DILLI and know how hard he works for the toys he buys. ( God knows he’s got toys!!) .

His post just says that a retailer can choose if they want to offer a LE discount in whatever % they want and no one is forcing them to do so.

In the spirit of Christmas I want to thank those who serve and cannot be with their families at this time. May they be safe.
And to the retailers who support them, thank you for your recognition of our men and women in uniform in whatever service they’re in.

I got 8 years left...lol...Hopefully they dont send my a$$ back over to many times again...lol..

I had 15 when I was "retired" for wounds I suffered in an IED strike on a foot patrol. The CAF ceases to give a fuzzy flying squirrel about you the second you're down. It is what it is (Just makes buying toys tougher Laugh2 )

Merry Christmas buddy and see you in the New Year.

Haha! Wood butcher! Good one!
I’ll be at the range on the 27th! Doing that training that you’re lacking! LOL! I’ll think of you though when I’m on my knees! AND not in that way!!!

and now that we have heard from all the "I would have joined but: 1) My mom wouldnt sign for me, or 2) I have an old football injury, or 3) I couldn't let a Sgt yell at me without punching him" excuse crowd. I appreciated all the discounts I DID get when I was serving. It's never been a reason to soldier, but it was a nice gesture.

American companies don't often extend IOP discounts to Canadians because as a demograph we represent only a tiny fraction of their sales. Individual states often having on par or greater firearm sales compared to all of Canada. US also don't really give a #### for other countries.

IOP discounts are less about thanking someone for their service and more about enticing consumers to buy products. Of which said consumers are from groups likely to be involved in shooting and outdoors activities.

Its also a great advertising strategy.

I've been down in the states and have been asked at a grocery store if I was military or retired military. That's how they feel about their people that serve, lots of respect and appreciation.

My intention was not to cause a #### show. Just simply venting. I am a proud public servant and I have no feelings of entitlement. The govt owes me #### all. I work for what I have but would simply like the options to buy at a reduced price. Once I retire they will replace me with another cog and management will show no gratitude or thanks.

Americans are very patriotic, I figure American Companies like to take care of their own, and build a good relationship with those in service buying their products.
