Lets get a some lever action #### going

Amazing what you can collect when money is no object. When you can afford to radically over pay for any piece, pay millions for entire collections anything is possible.

I agree
Thats not collecting...that's just buying.
He probably just paid people to find the stuf for him....yes...I'm envious:redface:

Can't let this thread get on page 2 ;) . Thought I would get another Marlin off the rack and post a couple of pictures of a nice Model 1889 rifle. This special ordered rifle is in .32W caliber (.32-20). It has a 28" octagon barrel (4" longer then standard) with full magazine. It still retains 90% original bluing and 95% original wood finish. This rifle left the factory 2-13-1894

Beautiful RK. And even more so with that LONG barrel. I really admire old lever guns with extra long barrels.
Recent acquisition?

You know, for a Marlin thats pretty nice :p

I was really happy that John Marlin was kind enough to build the first + or - 5,000 savages. But what we really need are pictures of savages lol

Top is a round barrel, next is an octagon then a 1/2 and 1/2.

Some very nice Savages 99trix and excellent pictures. I've had a couple of 99s but I have to admit, to me:redface:, a lever gun doesn't look 'right' unless it has an external hammer. I'm not knocking them, it's just they're not my preference. Having said that, here's a picture from days past of a lady that lived in the B.C. interior, whos forte was hunting Grizzly with a 99 Savage in 22 Savage High Power no less!!

My lever guns, as shooters, I'm not collectors.

Johnn,

Not one savage 1899 / 99 in those pictures. All are 1895's and made by John Marlin. To think that this design was patented in 1893 by Arthur Savage and unchanged until 1960 is amazing!

Point of clarification, through an omission on my part,;)I may have lucked out. I didn't say the photos of yours were 99's, only that I had had a couple of 99's and the one in the photo of Mrs. Betty Wendle that she used for Grizzly was a 99. It was the basic configuration I was attempting to get at. The intent was to mention my preference on the style or profile/configuration of lever guns. I've also had a couple of Winchester 88's and my taste holds true there, for the same reasoning. I prefer the appearance of an external hammer on a lever gun:).

I love how your fence is already for you to take pictures of your firearms in your backyard. I have no fences in my yard or cool neighbours like you with all those nice firearms. Maybe I could handle a fence if I had a neighbour like you. :)

99trix, that's a very nice collection of 1895s.These are getting very hard to find in any condition these days. I had one years ago and sold it.:bangHead: I am now trying to find one in nice condition to add to my Marlin collection. ;)
Oh by the way, looks like you're using my fence.
