Yes the fireballs are impressive, it's LOUD & OBNOXIOUS, but the recoil is quite manageable!

I knew it was a long shot. About 30 years ago I sold a Savage 99 in .243 that I had checkered with a leafy/viney like boundary. Was hoping someone might have posted it here so I went through every post looking for it to no avail. 1 of only 3 guns that I sold in my life and the one I regret the most. Don't really NEED it but would have been a great hunting rifle for the grandkids. It was, in fact, my first hunting rifle. If anyone has seen a savage 99 with unusual checkering I would sure like to at least see it again if not buy it.

My 2010 JM stamped Marlin SBL with sling and butt cuff from Levergun Leatherworks out of Idaho.
I should mention that I bought it in 2010 but it was manufactured in 2008 as per the '92###XX' serial #.

Let me count the ways my Pedersoli Boarbuster Shadow is NOT traditional...

Synthetic stockset, tang safety (which can just be left OFF), threaded muzzle, optics rail, red dot, fibre optic front sight. Might have missed something... Oh, is a leather buttstock shell holder cheek riser 'traditional'? Lol, what would John Browning think?

But... It's an 1886 in 45-70 and I like it!

Here is a big heavy 1886, manf by Miroku in Japan, came with a rebounding hammer which i did away with, now its just like the original with full #### and half ####.

45/70 22 inch barrel, tang safety, these guns are beautifully made, cycles smooth as glass right out of the box
