Lets get a some lever action #### going

This one is the 24" 30-06 variation. I assume you are talking about the krag?My barrels is stamped 30 Gov't 06, but i think the 30-40 was stamped 30 US Gov't

They had one in at wholesale sports, and the guys at the counter all thought they were selling an '06 until i set them straight:eek:

Swifty, how long is the barrel on that 95?
The reason I ask is that someone has told me they have a 95, 30 US, with a 32 inch barrel. I'm wondering if that is right, or is he mistaken?

Standard length in the .30 US calibre was 28". Same as the .303. Other calibres were 24", but I suppose a 32" could be special order. Maybe even a musket?

Yes, the 30-40 is just another designation for the 30 US, which was the calibre for the Krag, the US military rifle prior to the 30-06.
The 30 US was also a popular cartridge for teh Model 95 Winchester.
The elderly people that are describing it to me, the Model 95 that was in their family for many years, said it had a 32 inch barrel. So, really what I was wondering was if that was a standard length, or perhaps, as someone has said, a special order.
As a point of interest, the 30 US cartridge is almost identical to the 303 British. Here are the two of them, with the 30 US on the bottom.

H4831, to get off topic for a second, I keep thinking of that Wolverine skin you got. Very nice! You don't see one of those every day.

.303 Winchester Model 1895

Here is my Xmas present to myself: :D

Winchester Model 1895 in .303 British, manufactured in 1904. Not original, barrel was replaced and butt stock lengthened in the '60s. Williams sight, originals would have Lymans.

My modest contribution thus far..... more levers on the way soon, but what I have here is a Marlin 410 lever made in 1929. Soon to join this beauty are a 99 in 300 Savage and hopefully a 338 Marlin Express -- I will post pics when I get them.

I am very impressed for just under $450. And came with the sling to boot. As well as a padlock. LOL if you ever bought one youll know what I mean. How do they expect you to se that silly lock. LOL
