Let's see some pic's of your SxS's & O/U's

G. Masu, London

This is a 12 ga. BP-proofed 2 1/2" chambered gun by Gustave Masu, rib address 10 Wigmore St., London. It has Stanton rebounding locks and rear-facing underlever engaging two bites. Horn butt plate. Stillwater Restorations did the stock refinish and checkering. Mr. Makinson rejointed the action. Solitary Rifle and Gun refinished the barrels this past summer (and they're lovely, Andrew)

Sorry, I don't have decent photos showing the stocks before finish but Chris did a remarkable job

I traded recently to obtain this Belgian side-plated boxlock ejector. 12 ga., superior nitro-proof, 2 3/4" chambers, 27 3/4" steel bbls, 6 lbs 10 oz, chokes mod and IC, articulated front trigger, heel and toe caps on checkered butt sole. Maker was Charles Masquelier, Liege, with estimated d.o.m. 1937.

Very nice addition to the collection John.

I’ve seen some lovely guns from Masquelier. This is another. Good buy John.

Thanks for your comments, James, Steve, and Patrick. I recall Gunsaholic posted about his but I believe the photos were lost in the Photobucket debacle. Would be nice to see those pics posted again.
This one was built to a very high standard, engraving and bling aside, and the balance is incredibly nice. No external hammers of course but is vintage enough to appeal to me as I am so very fond of hand-built guns. It comes to the shoulder perfectly for me with the bead centered in that concave rib. The original mod/IC chokes, and 2 3/4" chambers, sealed the deal to my mind. Today will be my first outing with it.

A few shooters from the century before last

Group photos are fun so today I made my way through the cabinet holding the bulk of my 19th century shooters. I was checking all were lubricated properly and making decisions about whether any need work. I'm thinking the Reilly should be re-browned. Maybe I'll move a couple as I've been on a bit of a purge selling guns that don't get shot. 3 guns sold in the past week, another sent to auction, one more traded for something I had to have. I think all of these have been out for clays or hunting in the past year but perhaps not the Hollis.
Anyway, I thought I could put all my Damascus-barrelled guns on one table for a photo but still had a couple that wouldn't fit. I guess I need to to get a big enough harvest table of maybe some exotic wood but for now just have this modest sustainably-harvested Canadian maple table.

Just having fun of course with the lovely table shown by Canvasback earlier. Fine with me, James, that your purchasing decisions destroyed the rain forests of SE Asia.
Those at the 2019 SxS classic saw this gun in the rough

I'll bring it back out in 2022 after everything calms down following the commotion caused by a certain H. A. Lindner in 2021

Bwahaha. I’m reading the first post and thinking.....”is that a dig at me?”

Then confirmation!

Too funny.

John that’s a hell of a group. Kinda fun doing it, isn’t it.

That Aiken would certainly give the Lindner a run for its money. But I’d be careful. I happen to know of a gun being restored to its former glory that will easily top the Lindner for wow factor. At every level! That’s all I’m saying right now. :stirthepot2:

Yeah, its a bit of wishful thinking to assume that the lumber to make my maple table was Forest Stewardship Council-certified.
Four such tables would be needed for Pinfire's 150+ year old breechloaders. Probably the same number (4 tables) for all the hammer guns of another member that comes to mind. So my collection seems pretty reasonable to me.

Heres my remaining sxs shotgun collection. All are used for hunting.
The 410 sideplated pictured was aquired after the group shot
As for the ou i just cant stop staring at those case colors. A tom turkey survived an outing as he appartently walked right in front of me while i was watching the colors gleam in the sunlight only to notice his exit of range
