Let's see some pic's of your SxS's & O/U's

You may contact Rudy at Dante in Montreal for pricing. I am friends with the Chapuis family, so I got a little special deal. Hopefully this winter, I will have a 32 inch Parcour O/U from them.

Regards,
Henry;)

Henry, hope you took my comment about the wood the right way, as a compliment! The figure in that piece just throws me every time I see it. Beautiful gun and you're a lucky man to know the family.

Regards,

James

Thanks,
Here is their website with some info in English. It has more info and pictures in the French version.

Both Vincent and René speak English as well as the Sales Manager, Bernard Gaussin. When I sent them my stock dimensions, they emailed me a form to fill out. I had Ricky at La Roue du Roy measure me out on a Sunday. Monday morning I get a call from Vincent. He says that my sent dimensions are a bit off. I need 5 mm longer lenght and 2.5 mm of cast. Go ahead, I tell him. 5 months later, I assemble the shotgun in the dinning room. I close my eyes and mount. PERFECT fit!

Regards,
Henry;)

12 gage

I know these are not in the same league as what was posted, but just for fun.

More nice shotgun ####

Spent a few hours walking the fields at La Roue du Roy looking for strays. The 28 ga Chapuis did well downing 3 birds with this fine specimen as proof of use of WInchester 8.5 target loads. It was hit twice, once IC at distance and then the "coup de grace" at even more distance to bring him down.

I hope to get more next week! BTW, Oban is up to 106 birds this fall!
Regards,
Henry;)

Henry - you suck. Okay, not really :)

I regularly drive by the Roue du Roy on my way to the rifle range in St-Jacques. I even stopped in once a few years back during some sort of open house. Nice place for sure - probably slightly out of my league, though.

Is you Oban from an "O" litter or is he a GWP?

;)PM me and I will guide you on a personal hunt. You just pay for the birds and targets. The guest fees are on me! Oban is a Drahthar. I will check his papers as we did not get to do the VDD trials. His mother was German Champion and his father (who is own by my good friend Harry in Vancouver), is World Champion. I don't care to do trials, I need my dogs to be able to hunt birds VERY well. I let the dog use his sense to get our birds!

HURRY as we don't have much time to hunt at La Roue. You might also be interested in our OPEN Roue pheasant shoots. We hae only two: Nove 13 and the Pauline Memorial on the 20th. it is an experience to experience! You do shoot a lot of cartridges! Cal to reserve your spot at 1-888-747-2882 or 450-247-2882. You need to make a deposit. We can then, the following day hunt strays over Oban. PM me

Regards,
Henry;)

Pictures

Just got this gun from a CGN member on trade. I have always shied away from Guns with beaver tails simply because of looks. However after hunting and shooting clays with it, my outlook has changed. I was as per another post going to chance it to a splinter for-end but it shoots so well for me this way, I'm afraid that changing to the splinter would change the dynamics.

Anyway it's a Beretta Silver Hawk rare round body in 16ga (of course :D). According to Beretta Italy it was only produced for one year --- no model # but "Silver Hawk" on the bottom of the receiver (3 digit serial #)

I just started using a 20ga Ru Ko that my dad got from a friend. I know nothing about it and have been unable to find any info on the net but think it's a lower end gun. Can anyone help me out?

My understanding is that RUKO is/was just an importer of firearms. Your shotgun is likely a Spanish make.....some clear images, particularly of the flats/water table could be a great assist in terms of revealing such details about the firearm.

A few years ago, friend of mine picked up a used sxs 12ga BLE with screw-in chokes. It came with an English stock/semi-beavertail fore end and SST.

I'm skeptical about shotguns with SST made earlier by the Basque Gunmakers (or for that matter even English ones). Nevertheless, the firearm is well finished and has functioned flawlessly so far despite the single trigger.

Here it is. The previous owner said he got it used about 30 ish years ago. Could use a good cleaning still.

Thanks for taking the time to post those imgaes.

Unfortunately, the partial image of the open receiver show only the bore (20ga) + the chamber length (70mm i.e. to enable usage of 2 3/4 inch cartridges). We can possibly find out more info should you post a couple of closeup and clear images of the flats as well as the watertable.

In order to capture those areas you would need to completely diassemble the firearm first - then take an image of the flat area at the breech end of the barrels (flats) that show various proofmarks (stamped markings and symbols).

Likewise, take an image of the flat area (watertable) of the now disassembled receiver.....the area where the bbl flats come to rest with the breech closed i.e. whenever the gun is in an assembled state. That particular area should also contain proofmarks.

Needless to mention, it is imperative to have the firearm fully inspected by a competent individual or gunsmith in order to validate sound overall health prior to usage. Oh, btw, please post a complete image of the firearm as well....personally, I always enjoy looking at such :).

I have very little info on this one. It is marked Zoli & Figley Gardone Italy. Sidelock extractor. Not very pretty but a good shooter. Choked Full and Fuller I use it for Turkey.
