Let's see some pic's of your SxS's & O/U's

Time to bring this post up to the top again. Sure would make a good sticky. This one is a recent pickup. It is a James Purdey bar in wood hammer gun with a push forward underlever. It's number two of a pair that was completed in 1877 for the Baron A. Rothschild. I'm looking forward to getting this 16 bore into the grouse woods this fall.

I don't know if they can make this a sticky. It might interfere with the "shot size dimension" sticky that is already in place. Is there a "sticky" Moderator?

Bob,

That Purdey is gorgeous!! Once in a lifetime find, congratulations.

Now, do you want to move any of your other 16ga hammer guns? ;)

I have to agree with Mark. That is a beautiful gun. I hope we each get rewarded with a find like that at least once in our lives.

Also Mark is right. There are never enough great 16's up for sale. LOL

Regards,

James

Thanks for the comments on the Purdey, guys. Vega, I'm sure the Baron is rolling in his grave at the idea of a peasant such as myself pawing at his gun. Mark, I only have the one other 16 hammer. It is the Williamson and Son I posted a few pics of earlier in this thread. I think I'll hang onto to it. They seem to be fairly few and far between.

Thanks Win/64 and the rest of you for posting such fine pics. Momentary lapse in judgement had me list the following piece for sale in the EE. Now thanks to you, I've decided to hold on to the old girl. Thanks again.

The following is a Webley made piece for Army & Navy C.S.L. Date of manufacture believed to be 1892 (based on SN). It swings very well (fast and points beautifully). It has 30" barrels choked Cyl. and Lt. Modified. Weight is around the 6.5 lb mark (one of these days I'll actually get a scale and weigh it properly). :)

Beautiful gun KC. Glad to hear you've decided to keep and use it. I have a similar one from about the same period, although not in quite as fine condition as yours. If you decide to sell again I'm sure there are a number of us who would be interested for a competitive price.

Regards,

James

Very nice engraving pattern James. As for selling, no, I think I will keep it. But seriously thinking of getting rid of my scoped Anschutz, and begin a search for a classic hammer SxS. If you hear of anything... :)

So James....

How's your attention span?

Bored with that A&N yet?

LOL I don't think so Mark. I think I remember telling you, my objective is to buy guns, not sell them. Besides, you already enjoyed it for a while. But that's just a guideline so let me know if you come across another nice Ideal.

James
