Lets see your complete 3 Gun Set-Up (Pics Please!)

Is 3 gun always a rifle-shotgun-pistol?

Is there a criteria for what kind guns they are? Like short barrel rifle, longer barrel, pump shot gun?

Usually, but depends on the organizers or sanctioning body. Some 3 gun allow pistol caliber carbines in place of a rifle.

Again, that depends on divisions (if any) and the organizers equipment rules.

Guys the Taran lifters Casey has are for 3" M2s. They are short for the 3.5" Versamax. He also sells already welded lifters now that are proper length and will just take yours and keep to weld but replace with an already completed one.

Casey send me directions, but honestly once you take out the trigger assembly, it all really just makes sense when you start to pull it apart. The only thing I had trouble with was the retainer clip. Getting it back in was a little tricky.

870!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

KSG is the slowest loading piece of junk I have ever seen. Unless you are on a 14 round COF, you will get screwed every time. Plus you can get an extended tube for an 870 to get it to 10 rounds or more so you arent much behind. 870 are way cheaper. If you want to spend that much money, just buy a Versamax or a Benelli. Smoke the KSG every time. You will likely never see one in professional 3-gun. We have a guy who runs one in our club and it is a slow useless pile of crap in gun games. Different purpose.

Having hosted/run several 3gun matches as well as shotgun only competitions I could suggest what type of shotgun(s) are best suited to the game, but I won't.
People don't listen to the advice they ask for.

The first shotgun I was told to buy when I first started was an m2....I refused because it was too expensive and look where I ended up

So you just posted so we would know you hosted and ran 3gun matches? Clever ;)

I think I'll try one of these three gun matches, maybe even speed load my ksg to impress all the old dogs. Actually I have an 870 with extension, side saddle and rail that would do the trick.

Noooo... I posted to just say that most people will just buy whatever shotgun they think will work for the least amount of money without looking at the big picture or taking advice offered by those who have some experience.
'See it over and over...

Of course nothing beats practice regardless of which gun you use.

Whatever perceived advantage one gun has over others is often rendered moot given stage design.
Sure... A K SG might have higher capacity, but... on a stage with an "empty start"... it means nothing.

i see time and time and time again, guys with $1500 ar15's. $1k optics/mounts.... $1000 worth of pistol and extra magazines and then they have a maverick shotgun.... people need to buy beter gear and start with the shotgun.

versamax, benneli nova, benneli m2, beretta 1301, mossberg 590 even... the mossberg is sweet to load and very fast to pump.

Just say it - In no particular order: Benelli M2, Beretta 1301 Comp, Remington Versamax

I already have 2 870s that are worth $2k each so I'm broke.

you could tape $1700 to it!!
just kidding.
sort of...

no one should listen to these guys with "experience".
Shoot what makes you happy and puts a smile on your face.
I'm thinking of switching to a side by side to live out my tactical cowboy fantasies.
