I don't have a spiffy Mauser like most of you guys seem to, just a 1912-built Model B that was bought in 1913 in the Army & Navy Stores, Gt Victoria Street, London, for the Price family to take out with them to their new life in Rhodesia as tobacco-farmers.
It was used for most of that time as a pot-meat getter, and came back with their descendants in 1989 when Mugabe started his activities in earnest. I had been looking for a 7x57 Mauser, and this came up in auction for a pretty near ridiculous price of £120 [then around Can$350 or so].
I've had it ever since.
It's #67562, if anybody is counting, and prefers the bullets that I can't actually have here in yUK - the long bearing surface 175gr round-nose Nosler - only available as soft-points.
