Lets see your pre 64 model 70's

Rod, if you sold your collection the market price for Pre-64's would crash due to over supply. That's a lot of Pre-64s! What's your favourite / the gem in your opinion?

My favorite would be the one I'm using at that moment. . If I had to choose just one; it would be the 300 H&H.

Thats a beautiful rifle Dave. A pal of mine has one as well, but its had a hard life compared to yours, and the wood is a pale color whereas I prefer dark wood. Are you going to put rubber on the butt, or tough it out for love of authenticity? Paul's rifle must be a few years younger as his has what appears to be a factory recoil pad. I consider the .300 H&H the best of the .300 magnums.

I bow down to your sir!!

Hmm...This talk of making mbogo3's standard action into a 300 H&H has me thinking that the perfect match to my 300 H&H would be a 375 H&H. I just happen to have a pre-64 that was turned into a 257 Weatherby and needs to become something else. Bolt face is right, rails will work...all It needs is minor work to make a matched pair of Hollands.

Crap. Just when I had almost made up my mind between the 264 and 338 I come up with this bright idea.

For sure if you have a 300 H&H in a pre-64 then you need a matching 375 H&H. Then you NEED to take the pair of them to Africa.

Mulie buck and antlerless elk late season[Mid Dec- end of Jan] in AB. Rear bridge is the .440 so I'm thinking Warne 2 piece steel bases and perhaps Leupold rings.i believe any Weaver style ring fits the Warne base? Not sure about glass as I have a fixed 4X and a 6X Leupold or a VX2 3x9x40.Now to work out a load.At some point a Pachmayr recoil pad was added. Now I'm trying to decide what bullet weight to use/ Some say 200gr is the best calling the .300 H+H a 350 yard rifle .

I've only used Warne rings with my Warne bases but they look like any other Weaver base so I'd imagine any Weaver type ring would work. I've been shooting the 180gr Partition in mine with great results and velocities close to 300 Win Mag. Elk is the perfect use for that rifle.

I've owned this for a couple years now and have been meaning to add it to this thread but only got around to taking some pics today. Nothing too exciting, just a standard pre-64 made in 1954 and chambered in .30-06. I have shot it and it shoots well but have since robbed the scope off it for my daughter's muzzle loader and haven't purchased a replacement yet. I hope to do some hunting with it at some point in the future but it probably won't happen this year.

Time to post pics of my latest Pre 64 Model 70. It's a .30-06 & mfg in 1950.

Got it over a year ago but just got around to mounting a scope on it & taking some pics today.
