I took the red dot off and put on a 1-4x scope. The scope has added a fair amount of weight to the rifle. But I am liking this set up.

I got very good groups with my type 97, about 1"-2" at 50 yards free standing.

I think I read somewhere that they are pinned and press fit. Someone went and had Dlask thread the barrel. I've also read and seen videos of 1.5 to 2 MOA with certain types of ammo.
