No, no, no. One keeps the cylinder gap well forward of the knee, that way Carhartts, Wranglers, and knees all remain undamaged.
I wouldn't. They'd have to change my CGN handle to "limpy" or "stump" or something.![]()
How would I keep it on in the wind though? Them mountain boys with the big hats must stay in on windy days.
You just have to be smarter than the hat. Its called a stampede string.
Blowing close to 140km/h here a few days ago and I still have my hat.![]()
You'd think some would be carrying the Ruger Alaskan for a brush gun .. seems well suited for this role.
Great rifles..... But at almost 41 inches long and 8 pounds without scope it isn't much of an easy carry light swinging rifle....
Yup, I found the FR8 rifles kind of interesting. They come with a factory rear peep sight, which I think had different aperture settings on a dial for different ranges. The problem is the rear sight is permanently fixed to the rifle, which prevents the conventional mounting of a scope if that's your preference. The front sight is a tapered post, so its more difficult to aim with than a flat topped post, but the cool thing is it turns in an eccentric, which provides the adjustment for windage. The tube behind the bayonet mount contains the oiler. Chambered for 7.62X51, it makes a decent iron sighted bush gun, but at the time they were popular there seemed to be a consensus not to load them to full .308 pressures. I'm glad I never bought one though, by the time I had finished modifying it, I'm sure it would have cost as much as a high end sporting rifle.
My Grandfather smoked his whole life. I was about 10 years old when my mother said to him, 'If you ever want to see your grandchildren graduate, you have to stop immediately.' Tears welled up in his eyes when he realized what exactly was at stake, and he gave it up immediately, quit smoking cold turkey. Three years later he died of lung cancer. It was very sad and destroyed me. My mother said to me- 'Don't ever smoke... Please don't put your family through what your Grandfather put us through. I agreed. At 26, I have never touched a cigarette. I must say, I feel a good sense of regret for never trying it after all these years, because your post gave me cancer anyways.
Sorry Superbrad ..
I meant to say the Savage 116 Alaskan Brush Hunter.
Still.... 7.6 pounds and oal of 41,5"......
Yeah, true enough on the specs. The pics are deceiving, it LOOKS like a great brush gun.
