Lets see your trap guns

Just arrived Monday, my 30” Beretta A400 Xcel with kickoff antirecoil butt. You can still find it at a couple of gun stores in Canada, but it was discontinued by Beretta. There are rumours it will be replaced snd show up at the Shot Show next year. This standard Beretta butt fits me absolutely perfectly, so I never had any reason for something with an adjustable comb.

I owned an earlier version before, but had a bad year few years ago snd had to panic sell it. I managed one perfect round with it in the limited shooting I do. Now that I am in Terrace, BC it is very nice because we shoot 12 months a year.

My local range only has trap shooting and that is fine because it is the only shotgun sport I am interested in. Again, the gun makes perfect sense fir ne, I do not need an over under, etc. I picked up the small plastic insert that is a perfect shell catcher so I do not spray ejected shells everywhere, including over to the shooter beside me lol on a trap line.View attachment 702477View attachment 702479

Those A400's are a good gun but why is there a gap between the forend wood and the receiver, is the take down nut not tight?

perazzi tm1 with a stock I bought from the spank, also my krieghoff kx6 special. A double barrel would be nice in the future.

I had a gracoil on the other stock, so the RAD was no different. Gracoil, you can adjust LOP. With the new stock, I don't have to use any spacers for the comb, it is a good fit. Also the palm swell is nice, other stock had no palm swell.

Just shot a new KX 6 was very impressed .Don't need a o/u so think that would be a nice fit.

Yeah, I might need his services too... Obviously, the grip needs a bit of colour.

You should introduce him to your hydro-dip guy.

Hey Frank,

No, I didn’t.
PFS was bought used (on CGN) and came with the wood comb. Seller said that the comb was a VT creation.
PFS plastic comb was not included.

I contacted Vic to ask what size the two top screws are, and also what he charges for the comb.
He no longer makes them (too much work) and has a few he’s selling for $100.

Forearm is factory wood, and a reasonably good match for the comb.
I might refinish both (forearm and comb) to better match each other, before considering dipping the plastic grip (and maybe even the back of the comb).

Did you have Vic make the comb? What did he charge to make a wood comb? If you're going to dip the forend you could have done the factory black plastic comb at the same time.

Oh, and the PFS grip is different enough from factory wood grip that my middle finger gets whacked with each shot.

Thanks, I will try that.

Does yours have the 7/16” steel ball in there?

You have to put the steel ball in or the washers for the reduction system can seperate and then the recoil suppression system is no longer working. And it can cause the system to be too soft and increase felt recoil beyond if it was even locked out fully, due to too much movement. You should have 1/4"-3/8" travel in the recoil system when set up properly. You can download a PDF of the PFS manual on their website if you need one. They have the new updated manual online and your unit is a newer unit to judge by the twist preventing bracket I see on your unit in the picture.

My buddy Ed shoots a KX6 Special. It's a nice gun to shoot but for the price of it they should at least put wood on it that doesn't look like the stock was cut from a vineyard post. Very blah, boring looking wood.

Hey bud come on that's cruel, OK I'll admit the wood on it isn't flashy but it's not that bad ............ is it:rey2 it sure is the nicest shooting trap gun I have, softer shooting than my perazzi MX14 and my CG.
