Well I guess it's not the first $100 CAD that I have thrown away and it won't be the last.

My Leupy clone arrived from Hong Kong on Tuesday. I removed my Elite 3200 10 x 40mm from my Savage 12BVSS and installed the clone.

When it arrived I got all excited, exterior finish was excellent, optics reasonably clear and sharp.

I bore sighted it at 25 yards and got out to the range this morning at 5:00 am conditions were clear with a slight north wind.

My first shot was low 3 inches and to the left 3 inches......I adjusted the scope accordingly and fired another sighter shot. Now I was high 2 inches and right 4 inches. I adjusted accordingly and my shot didn't even hit the target.

I removed the bolt and bore sighted again. The crosshairs were 2 FEET low and 1 1/2 FEET to the left. I readjusted the scope and fired another sighter. This one landed high and to the right. I readjusted the scope and this shot was off the paper again.

SO my advice to all my fellow CGN'ers is to preceed with caution if you are considering buying one. I'm going to contact the seller and from all reports I am sure he will tell me to ship it back to Toronto and he'll send another one BUT I don't think you'll ever be able to depend on it.

It sounded too good to be true but in all honesty China would be better off making a quality scope at say 50% less thasn a comparable Leupold and looking for customer satisfaction.

Hi Ryan,

No it's the M1 clone with 1/4" adjustments....obviously an internal problem. I had read an excellent report from a fellow CGN'er

It's probably just a fluke. From all reports the seller guarantees his products and I've contacted him by e-mail.

It's just that even if he sends another that's A-okay one will never know when it's going to poop out so to speak.

My point to the seller is why not build a quality scope and sell it for more $'s. China is capable of producing quality and I'm sure they could build a scope every bit as good as a Leupold.

By any chance...is yours the one with 1 MOA adjustments? Sounds to me like you may be adjusting for 1/4 min, and are actually adjusting 4X that.

Just for kicks I would do a "One shot zero" on it.

Get the gun on paper, and from a rest shoot at the bullseye. Then re-position the crosshairs on the ullseye and have an assistant turn the knobs till the crosshairs cover the bullet hole. You are now sighted for POI. Move it up 2 clicks, shoot, then back down...see what happens. Then do the same for your windage. Maybe they swpped internals with a M....? Who knows.

My leupold clone is awesome! Can't say enought good things about it. You should have bought it from Jack here on CGN.

x2 on that... I have had 3 of jacks scopes and they have all ben perfect, and better quality then my cheap tasco.

Regardless who sells them they are all made in China and I can guarantee you all come from the same source.

Anyway obviously something is wrong with the internal adjustments. Maybe they just sent me a lemon.

I'm not trying to be nasty, I have never laid eyes on a clone...

I want to see how truly confident they are in the scopes.

No offence Gatehouse, those clones are garbage, bought one, put it my BLR in .284 win, 10 shots later I took it off and never put it back on. I am convinced its not as good as a Leupold cause its not a Leupold. I have learned the hard way on scopes, I am not a millionaire so I won't ever own a Zeiss or Swarovski, but putting anything less than a Leupold is an insult o your gun.;)

I think that's being a bit harsh. I've bought several of the clones and I've put them on rifles that are shot at the range or in the gopher patch. They have worked as good or better than Bushnell 3200's that I've had (fixed 10x and 3-9). I have had a clone come in with a loose turret and that scope was replaced, no questions asked.

Are they the same as Leupolds? No, nor would it be realistic to expect a $150 scope to be the same as a $700 scope. But, they're much better value for the money than a Tasco (not including "Super Sniper"), or Bushnell 3200 (or one of their cheaper series).

You do get what you pay for and, for "serious" work I would recommend that you invest in a Leupold or Zeiss. For a big game hunt, I wouldn't risk using a lesser brand. (but I still have a few Leupy clones for fun).

I always buy quality gear and never worry about it. I would never buy a $100 POS and trust it on any hunt. I spend way too much money on other gear and hunting in general to cheap out on a scope.

Sorry to hear about the lemon bushpilotmexico :(

With optics you get what you pay for. Buy a good scope once and be done with it. Pay a $100.00 for a piece of Chinese junk and expect it to perform to the level of a high end Leupold or any other Leupold for that matter is unrealistic.
