I just got a New Vortex Viper scope and was mounting it on my Remington 700 last night using Leupold PRW rings and a Millett rail base. I got it snugged on and my keen eye picked up on something that didn't look quite right. When looking at the rings from the front or rear it seems that the claw piece is canted a bit. I did up a crude drawing( I forgot to take a pic) and it may be exaggerated slightly but you get the idea.
I am wondering if it might be the rail that is out of tolerance. Although I have been using it prior to installing the leupold rings. Or are the rings supposed to fit like that?
Also I may be in the market for a better quality rail to fit the rifle: Rem sps tactical short action, .308. Any suggestions?
