Leupold's new Mark 6 1-6x24 34mm Tactical scope - review at SHOT 2012

This will make a great tac ops division scope. The scope is a baby version of Leupold's uber expensive 1.1-8 CQBSS. The Mark 6 is an FFP scope with a 34mm tube and has an Aimpoint bright daylight visible illuminated reticle for CQB work. At US$1500 it's a steal compared to the 1.1-8 which is priced at US$3500.

Okay, I want one but I need it for this season of Service Rifle!!!:bangHead:

Maybe I can wait, I have an aimpoint....anyone ever shoot at 500m with no magnification?:D

will our State dept and ITAR friends even let this baby out of the US........

It would make a better action rifle/3-gun scope. An NF2.5-10x24 would be the ticket for service rifle.

Retail at 1950 USD, almost a short dot in price. Be interesting to see reticle.

S&B have just put up their prices. The 1-4 short-dot is now $2750 and their new 1-8 is being priced at $3500. $1950 for the Leupold is also more attractive than the Swaro 1-6 Zi.

If the build quality and glass is as good as the CQBSS, Leupold will take the action rifle/3-gun segment of the market with this scope. I'm not a Leupold fan, but at this price point there is nothing that comes close.

I got two from Leupold -- I think its a great 14.5-16" 5.56mm gun optic

I would have prefered the H27D reticle - but Jim Smith (CAG Sniper from BHD fame) did the CMW reticle and its not too bad.

I had one out at the Desert Sportsman Mil/LE Pre-SHOT shoots.

This is going to kill the S&B 1-4x Short Dot, and any other of the want to be Short Dot type optics.

I guess I'm way behind the times wehn it comes to AR's and related gear. I'm sitting here in amazement how anyone could possibly consider spending $2,750 - $3,500 for any short range and low powered optic. I suspect the decision to buy such an item would not be made lightly.

In researching this scope abit more if its' price comes total in under 2200 I'll give one a go for giggles for sure, looks interesting. ;)

They expect them to actually retail around $1750

The CMW reticle is not ITAR restricted - so they should be considered a dual use item.

Premier Reticles is basically dead -- it was bought by Andy Webber - Armament Technology, and is focusing on the 3-15x from what I understand.

Bah! They should also offer something similar that is mil based. Those BDC reticles are only accurate for one caliber and one load. At the longer distances, they become inaccurate even for different barrel lengths and changes in environmental conditions.

Well, optics in this price range often have a choice of reticle. Perhaps this is just the one intended for the AR-15 carbine market, which is what this seems most appropriate for.
