For short throw, fast acting, I liked my friend's 9422. We both grew up wandering around packing guns for fun. The Marlin 39 that I had was longer, heavier, and we both shot more accurately with it, partly due to the Williams receiver peep, partly because of the huge long sight radius, and partly because of the extra weight. It had the older style (Ballard?) rifling, not the microgroove).
The one that works for you is best, though. I can't get worked up about a shiny taco shell wrapped around pot metal for any price, but if it works... I'd just never be happy with it. Does Henry sell spare covers for days when "all dressy" doesn't seem right?

Cheers
