If I remember correctly, there were Spanish or Latin American M1892 type carbines made in .45ACP. "El Tigre?"
My "El Tigre" is a Spanish copy of the Win 92 in 44-40.

Guaranteed your partner is confusing .45 Colt with .45 ACP... the Colt makes sense, historically and practically... the ACP makes no sense at all.
Why not. Adds a classic option to the JR Carbine and the Beretta Storm.Id buy a 9mm lever, you'd probably get 20 rds in the tube and it would cheap to shoot. It would make a nice porcupine gun

But he is saying "Winchester"... I assume a lever action, perhaps a 94. A lever nine by any maker. Could be worse!
FWIW Uberti makes a special carrier for the 1873 so that guys who shoot the Cowboy action sport of wild bunch can use their main 45 colt match rifle but shoot 45 acp to go with the 1911
I shot a Marlin chambered in 32 Special that had an adapter to shoot 32 automatic, could it have been something similar but in 45?
I don't think so. Those adapters are a pretty nifty idea, but by the looks of it,the Adapter needs to be bigger than the cartridge in order to hold it- works on bottleneck calibers...45Colt and 45acp share the same diameter, there would be no material left to hold on.

To my knowledge, the Uberti carriers are to facilitate the use of the shortened L. C. cases
They are using 1911's in cowboy shooting matches now?
