An 1886 Win action, with a custom long stock, to fit my longer arms, and an octagon barrel 26" long with full mag tube. It wears a redfield peep sight, and it's in 45-70.
I went with the classic shotgun butt, and steel buttplate. The kick of heavy 45-70 loads is sufficiently reduced by the weight of the rifle, that a recoil pad isn't needed.
