Wouldn't want to be you, Joe. All those guns and not a one to hunt with. Must be terrible. And if per chance you do hunt with a few....how do you choose?;)

I could never get tired of this picture. It would make a fine poster for the gun room! Great collection MadDog. I thought I was doing well with my two model 99's.

I will have to get a digital camera some day. Until then, you'll have to live with this description SC.
An 1886 Win action, with a custom long stock, to fit my longer arms, and an octagon barrel 26" long with full mag tube. It wears a redfield peep sight, and it's in 45-70.
I went with the classic shotgun butt, and steel buttplate. The kick of heavy 45-70 loads is sufficiently reduced by the weight of the rifle, that a recoil pad isn't needed.

Bull####, that rifle kicks like a mule, remember Ians face:D :D :D :D :D :D :D
But that was with one hell of a heavy 500 gr hardcast load (that went 1860 fps out of my guide gun)
Joe, Killer Pic bud!!!!!

It's easy, the post-mil 99F 300 Sav comes with me every year, had scope problems this year so the 99R in 308 came with me, ran out of shells for the 375 Win but it'll be there next year.

I think I just threw up in my mouth :runaway:

That'll teach ya.

I like the caliber choices me uses, like the 50-110, which has panache, unlike the Savage rounds, which are the cartridge equivalent of cold kidneys in barf sauce

That was out at the deer camp this summer, not all 99's, there is also some other Savage guns there, a 23B, a 219, 220, and a 170.

I'm not a 99 nut, I'm a Savage nut!

Gettin into the old Savage rimfires lately.

I'm in my mid 30's, been collecting Savages since I was 24, fogies?
Yeah. And DeMented is only in his 30's or 40's or something. Doesn't mean he isn't a mean old coot though.

Lever actions are disgusting. But I'd take a 45/70 if given to me. I hear they're powerful, or something to that effect.

Two posts now in the same area, o.k., we get it, you don't like lever guns.

I don't like Mausers, to me they're butt ugly, to each their own.
