Lever Actions...Oh yeah I'm goin there!

Tsk, tsk, tsk.

First time finding Turnbulls site?

He does a nice job on refinishing case hardened color but charges an arm and a leg.

Oh, by the way, you know you want a 99, in fact I bet you've got a safe full of them and just don't wanna come out of the closet.

i like turnbulls guns just cant afford them , i would like a 86 extra light 45/90finished by him but just plain no fancy stuff , i will have to make do with my 45/70 guide gun, works good anyway,,,,, wade

I will have to get a digital camera some day. Until then, you'll have to live with this description SC.
An 1886 Win action, with a custom long stock, to fit my longer arms, and an octagon barrel 26" long with full mag tube. It wears a redfield peep sight, and it's in 45-70.
I went with the classic shotgun butt, and steel buttplate. The kick of heavy 45-70 loads is sufficiently reduced by the weight of the rifle, that a recoil pad isn't needed.

Nice!! ..... I saw an old 86 the other day that had been rebarreled with a 71 bbl. Metal was in good shape, but the wood was rough. It would be a perfect candidate for some semi custom work.

For anyone that's interested in Savage 99s, Shooter Choice in Waterloo Ontario, has got one listed in the used gun section, in .303 Savage. The price has been dropped to $200.I haven't seen it , so I don't know what shape it's in but they have it listed as good. Not my cup of tea, but I figure someone here may be looking for something like this.
