LF Recipe for 303 British, Speer .311 180 gr bullet and Ginex primers

How did your load testing work out for you?

We did get those 30 rounds reloaded but we didn't get the chance to fire them off as we had limited time together, so the test shooting will have to wait for the spring as my local range is closed until then. We opted for a load that was not too hot as a starting point.

I also bought a Lee's precision hand loader so in the spring, I can test this recipe and hand reload to make adjustments. While not as ideal as a full press reloading station, for the limited shooting I do, I should be able to get by with that.

The biggest win out of all of this, is I got hands on, and supervised, reloading training from someone who does a lot of reloading, so that mystery of how do to it is no longer a mystery; now it's just a matter of practice.

The bonus out of all of this, is I now have the resources to reload an additional 70 rounds, and can take my time adding to those resources as they become available locally.

We used the following starting recipe:
Speer .311 180 Hot core bullet
IMR 4046 powder at 37.1g
Ginex LR primer

The max load (according to Hornady) was 41.1 but it was suggested that I start at 10% lower than the max and work up from there so that's what I did.

Please remember guys I'm still new to this and may end up wasting some resources as I travel through the learning curve. I'm also not looking to be shooting out much past 200 yards and looking for hunting accuracy not long range competition groupings. ;-)

That is very close to what Hodgdon's data states as well.
If I get a chance, I will load some up and run it over the chronograph and test it at 100 yards for you this weekend.
I have some 180 Speers left. I used 4895 for my .303 loads though, but I do have some 4064 here as well.
That will give you an ide of what you are dealing with .
What rife are you using, a Lee Enfieled, Uberti, Or Ruger, or an 1895?

Could be the final load for me as well. 37.1 was our starting point recipe, but I've been cautioned by a few experienced reloaders, that I may end up going a bit hotter.
