Lightest 5.56 semi auto magazine fed rifle

Yes I would like to know more because Modern Sporting Rifle (MSR) is a common term where as the Alberta Tactical Rifle Supply Modern Sporter Rifle is a specific rifle.

"Firm believer in the non-aggression principle", lol you clearly don't think being passive aggressive falls under that principle.

Government is the single biggest violator of the N.A.P.; personally, I refuse to do their dirty work (of promoting firearm-based ignorance & dissension) for them... :canadaFlag:

Hi all

My partner is about to start shooting now that she has completed her firearms safety course.

I was wondering if anyone could suggest a non-restricted 5.56 rifle that is as light as possible, magazine fed and preferably not front heavy.

The Ruger Mini 14 and Kel Tec RDB have come to mind.

Wk 180 C is worth a look and worth the wait.

SU16 for the win in my books. Had a buddy that bought one for a light backpack gun. My Mrs shot it once and said she wanted one. Here we are 2.5 years later and it is still going strong and she still loves it. No issues so far and we have at least 3000 rounds down the pipe. Takes AR15fan mags so unlimited supply and multitude of different kinds. It does feel “cheap” but I have given it a good beating through hikes and hunts and like I said still going strong. Just my $0.02

The SU 16 is probably the lightest option and alway will be. My buddy has had a SU16 tactical for probably 3+ years now. Imo its really the only SU16 model that DOESN'T feel like cheap garbage. Unlike the other models the tactical model feels rigid, and look good aswell. The gun has been super reliable, light, well balanced, fairly ergonomic and seems to shoot around 2moa. After 800 rounds what is in the video occured. I just presumed the damage was caused by overgassing from the factory. But a person in the comment section suggested a different but very likely cause revolving around the piston rod slowly unscrewing off the bolt carrier.

Had a quick look at a Nutnfancy vid on the su16
Does not suck...That is good

Nutnfancy is hardly the go to source for what's awesome. He himself says in his reviews he usually shoots some 500-1000 rounds. While that will expose inital issues its hardly a mark of a gun that will last.

Not to mention him or any other reviewer alone is a sample of one.

The su16 is an ok range toy for light and i mean light recreational use. Hard use has shown an abnormally large failure rate. Shame because I do admire kel tecs willingness to experiment and innovate and come out with some neat designs.

At least he shoots the gun, which is more than can be said about 99% of forum posters, and much better than all those “reviewers” that basically just make an unboxing video.
