The Model 84M Montana .308 Win. weighs just 5 pounds, 2 ounces.
Hi-Standard said:I would chose a Remington 700 SPS in 30-06, at 7.5 pounds with a Limbsaver recoil pad included. I don't know about you guys, but I find that a 30-06 kicks almost as bad as a 300 Win Mag. And if you go with a 6 lb. rifle ouch. the beauty about the SPS syntetic, is that the buttstock is hollow, and if you decide to do some target shooting at the range you can fill the buttstock with sand to add 1 extra pond of weight. Then when you go hunting again, all you have to do is dump the sand out again. Makes a huge difference to felt recoil I find.
