I heard some guys talking about shooting moly-coated bullets with lightly coating the inside of the barrel with WD-40 to reduce friction, resulting in less barrel/rifling wear and greater accuracy.......is this true?

I own an M700P .308 and sometimes use Winchester 168 gr. Ballistic SilverTips which I believe are a moly-coated bullets...would it be a good idea to do this, or is that just crazy talk????

Thanks.

Never go near the stuff. I use hoppes :)

JWK uses gun juice on his HWSNBN built .300 win mag. Works fantastic! It coats the barrel making fouling almost non-existant. There is a process required to apply it properly which involves shooting then patching in various combinations. The stuff is truly amazing and DOES affect your POI!!! I have a bottle too but have not yet had the chance to apply it to my Win Stealth II.

Regards,

I'm no expert but it seems to me that putting a flammable penetrating oil in a barrel and firing might effect pressure. I might be way off base or it might not be enough to worry. Just an observation.

That may not be a bad idea, I wouldn't mind
try'n that out.
What is this 'gun juice' called ?
And then once you've gone thru the steps
to apply this jazz is that it, or do you
need to preform regular swabing to
insure you're get'n full performance from the juice ?

WD-40 is neither a penatrating or a lubricant. WD stands for "Water Displacing" It was designed for the space program to insure that water was not present during the hook up of electrical cables to the rockets. I have no idea why I know this stuff, I just do!

Gun Juice is a product made by the Microlon Corporation. The claim is that the product prevents rust, produces higher muzzle velocities, extends barrel life, improves accuracy, smooths operation will not attract dirt or dust, and is long lasting. I bought some, and I'm on my second can.

You treat the barrel with this stuff, and you know that the barrel is coated when the POI stops rising on the target. I did it as part of the break in proceedure with my .308. and now I just run a patch of this stuff through after cleaning, then wipe down the bolt and inside the reciever with the patch.
