lightweight scope and ringo combo for Model 70 Featherweight?

They add dimension, yeah but unless they're globbed on like pipeline epoxy the difference is minimal. I bet you've never even checked the thickness with any accurate way before AND after.

gunkote the vx3 of your neighbour and voila by miracle the vx2 is better than vx3 ... lol more seriously despite coating the reticle make a big difference on clarity especially with less light. try a german 4 on a leupold or a german 1 and compare it to a duplex really interesting to say the least.

ah ah technically you re right the coating and treatments are different but surprinsigly the vari x III in german 1 that i had in 2.5-8x36 was better in low light conditions than the newest vx3i in duplex ...when i changed it for a german 4 it was superior with the german 4.

pretty sure you got my joke on the coating by gun kote lol ...

i have a canadian vxII with german 4 that is really great in low light despite an older coating.

Not sure how you figure the 3.5-10 is "brighter" than the 2.5-8. Exit pupil on the first at max power is 4mm at high power, for the 2.5-8 it's 4.5mm. I'll take the 4.5mm over 4mm in low light any time. Longer tube is definitely not an advantage in my books, and on the eye relief, you are also incorrect; the eye relief is identical for both scopes.

So basically, you don't know what you're talking about from a specs perspective. If you like the 3.5-10 better, fine. But as far as your reasons for doing so, pffttt, 3 strikes.

And having read to the end of this whole thread, I've concluded you state your opinions loud and obnoxious for the fun of the game. But loud and obnoxious and a good vocabulary don't change opinions into facts. You should have taken a few tedious minutes to check out the specs for both scopes before showing your hand. You're busted for being full of BS bluster.
