Funny this came up, I had problems with barrel harmonics today. I use a suppressor here in the UK, esp on my 243. I"m going to Scotland for a week in September for stags and don"t want the extra weight of the suppressor.
I"ve been trying to work up a handload for the 243 without the suppressor, but was"nt getting my ususal groups. After much frustration and wasted Grand Slam bullets, I borrowed the suppressor of my mate"s rifle(he was on the range with me), and my groups shrank right down again.
I intend to bring my 243 with me when I move to Canada, but I can"t bring the suppressor, so I needed to put something on to replace the suppressor.
I ended up with a sock full of bullets taped onto the barrel!
I tried sliding it up and down the barrel and shooting groups at different "settings"(if you can have "settings" on a sockful of bullets!)
The results were amazing, as the groups moved around, grew and shrank with different positions.
I have started work on a muzzle brake tonight, so I hope to try that on monday.
The limbsaver deresonator certainly would have an effect, it"s just a matter of finding a position where the rifle "likes to have it", if indeed the effect is beneficial.
You could always try an exhaust mount rubber, it"s the same thing!
