Hello all! I'm expecting my first firearm shortly (P&D is shipping me a Sig226), but I'm not sure what other paraphernalia I need. If I could compile a list, I could pick these items up while in Toronto next week. I'm not sure what the gun comes with.

1) Ammo, obviously :)
2) Lock for the case? ( I assume it comes in a case)
3) Trigger lock
4) Cleaning supplies:
Oil of some sort?
Grease?
Bore stick and patch
Solvent cleaner?
5) Hearing protection - I have already (Electronic muffs, though I am thinking of getting ear plugs also)
6) Eye protection - I have already

Am I missing anything, and does anyone know where I could pick these items up in Toronto? As I said, it would be greatly appreciated if someone could make a sort of shopping list for me. Thanks!

I would add a bore light. You should check the barrel before you shoot, when you finish & if anything sounds or feels strange after a shot.
LED bore lights are less than $ 10.00 now.

It will come in a case, true, but it will come very probably in a cheap plastic case which isn't really very lockable. You will want to replace this right off the bat with a proper, lockable, metal and portable storage container for taking the gun to the range. I also keep my restricted in this type of case for permanent storage and keep it hidden away.

Forget what they cost - $35-$50 ???? - but you will need one.

And congrats on the Sig. One day I will get to play with one, I hope.

Thanks for all the great replies, I forgot about the holster. And a larger gun case is a good idea since I'm already admiring the stainless steel pics on the forum (I bought the Sig SAS).

Anyone know of a good location in Toronto where I could get all these supplies in one place? And any specific recommendations on the oil and/or grease, and any other cleaners?

Take care selecting a holster. Some ranges will not allow shoulder rigs as the muzzle direction may compromise their safety line on presentation and when reholstering. I am sure you wouldnt want to stand behind a guy not qualified or new to that type of rig..Just be aware...
Cheers

You can hit up Lebaron, Bass Pro, Ronin really take your pick. But if there are an CGN sponsors in the area I'd make the drive to see them first.

Oh, where can I find a list of these CGN sponsors? Or do you mean the banners above the forums?

Wise man!
Guess what I forgot my first range trip:runaway:

Have been a range officer for many years..almost always forgotten on 1st trip to range: Target(s), Stapler with staples, binoculars or spotting scope.

Seldom forgotten: Permits, gun(s), ammo, cigarettes, cellphone.

???

Cheap, but totally unnecessary and some ranges would consider this a no-no.

If anything went wrong, it's a Sig...comes apart in secs.
