Don't know about how any of you feel but I gotta say I was a little disappointed with my recent AR purchase. I bought a Colt Canada MRR 11.6 complete rifle with a friend. He got the lower and I got the upper with BCG. When it came out of the package I was greeted with a tiny scratch on the forward part of the handguard (not a big deal) but more then that was the muzzle brake that came installed. If you look at the promotional pics that CC put out you will see that there are two different muzzle brakes. A standard A2 style and what ever they call the other one. I spent a little over $1800 for the upper receiver and parts. On the end of our rifle was the A2 brake, you would think that CC could have put their brake on the rifle for the money we are paying. The muzzle brake I am referring to I believe came on the Danish IUR's. Sometimes the subtle parts can make the biggest difference.

Wellll that's just horse c%$p. Why do they need to do that to us! Here you go little civilian peeons, enjoy the scraps because we don't care about sales to you. Why would a muzzle break make any difference to them? We buy this product to get close to military spec firearms (or at least I did) and they still can't go the distance for us.
To military or LEO these are just tools of the job, it is the civilian market that finds the people who appreciate the firearm and admire them for where they come from and who makes them.

Yeah, funny thing is they can always just remake this stuff when ever they want.
The only thing worth collecting is special made stuff made by an artist or some famous maker that is dead. My only advice to be is don't get sucked into the hype or the nostalgia to much, I've made this mistake myself, it can all be remade especially mass production stuff like AR's.
Unfortunately they make all their money on the mil/law contracts and civilian sales are just a way to get rid of old stock. Why would they care about us appreciating the product?
$1800 for an upper? You could have built an upper using the best parts available for that price. Sorry, I just don't understand people's obsession with Colt. I agree that they are a quality manufacturer of course but as a civilian for that much money I think there are better options for a range only toy.
Milspec doesn't mean it's the best, it just means it meets the minimum specifications laid out by the US military. You're paying for the name and they are that expesive because they can charge almost anything once they get the mil/law enforcement contract because the gov just spends tax dollars to pay for it.
If I was in your shoes I would send it back and request one without scratches.
Regarding the muzzle brake, who cares. You would probably have replaced it within a year anyway no matter what they put on there. You bought Colt because you want milspec? An A2 flash hider is milspec.

The new muzzle device is just an updated A2 compensator/flash hider with a little bit of muzzle brake action with the new ports and come on our C9A2s. I think that they also come on new factory rifles like the IURs/MRRs recently sold under contract to different militaries, but I might be wrong. Some C7A3/frankenrifle prototypes with which I've tested some Eagle launchers on from Colt Canada also had them. I guess that's the new muzzle device they produce and use now.
Nope, never in the CF. Like most I like most things military that we can never have. As far as a small scratch I could care less. You will all think I'm retarded but I am actually going to strip the barrel out of the MRR upper for another build. The upper chassis is going up on the EE when I get it disassembled. I just don't get it, civi's pay more then LEO's for their rifles and they give us old crap rather then the new designs. I would have put the C9 brake on another pistol build Im doing.
If I am hearing you correctly, jonesy, it sounds like you had expectations of receiving one thing based on what you saw on the CC website, but when didn't end up being true, it left you feeling led on. Is your concern more that you felt that you were misled or that the flash hider you received is substandard? Also, for clarification, are you, in fact, referring to the images from the CC website or the site of a vendor that you purchased the firearm through?

I don't get it. You paid $1800 for an upper just to yank the barrel and sell the rest? Am I missing something or would you not have been better off to just buy a barrel the length and contour you wanted? You could have a custom barrel built for $500-$600.
I do agree with you about the scratch, when I buy something new I expect it to be mint until I mess it up. A scratch will definitely drop it's resale value.
Also, if they were advertising it with A muzzle device and it came with B muzzle device I would be a little choked. Like ordering a new car in blue and having a red one show up and the dealer just telling you to suck it up.
Not sure why you took the path you did to get a barrel but regardless you didn't get what you ordered and it didn't show up in new condition. I would contact the retailer you bought it from and ask them to correct things before coming on here and telling us about it.
