Ljungman in 8mm mauser?

Eaglelord: Norwegian politroops did actually have 3000 of the AG42's, but they were all in 6,5x55. These rifles were used by the Homeguard into the 1950's sometime (when they got K98K's in 30-06 as standard arm). Unmodified AG42's still show up from time to time in Norway, but the majority of the rifles were most likely sold back to sweden in the 50's and upgraded to the B model.

Cool I was unaware that the Swedish managed to export some of the original AG-42s, this is why I love the milsurp forum, learn something new every day.

If you look inside the bore from the muzzle end with the action open to a light source do you notice the smaller diameter bore with rifling starting about 2 inches in just before the holes?

This is a standard 6.5x55mm AG42b.

at a quick glance the bore seemed "normal" I did not notice any proof marks on the barrel while I was handling it. the 6.5x55 just dropped in past the casing neck. but definitely not 6.5x55..... just looked like a normal worn AG42B to me.

I just measured my 6.5x55mm AG42b and a 8x57mm round fits in the muzzle just like your pictured one and the muzzle brake inside diameter was about 7.5mm!

How far does that 8x57mm cartridge go into the chamber?

Chamber cast would settle the issue. Betting it's a 6.5. :d

Grizz

well not my rifle. slight aversion to chambering rounds in a rifle that is not mine in a gun shop...... in anyways im going back tomorrow for something else il ask him to chamber a 8mm mauser. For 450$ what do you guys think? I feel like its a tad overpriced

A complete 6.5x55mm Ljungman AG42b in the pictured condition of the above rifle is about right at that price if it has a very good bore, $385 if the bore rates as just fair to good! The Mag alone is worth about $150!
