LMT dealers

how do you go from HK to PWS. Lol.

To be honest, by watching Garand Thumb lol. I know nothing about the PWS. I only started looking at LMT recently as well.
But Garand Thumb went from the 416 to the PWS and didnt have bad things to say about the PWS. He said the PWS was lighter and softer shooting than the 416.

I like Garand Thumb. Cool dude and fun YouTube channel.

That being stated there is always a weird narrative that pops out in the US when it comes to HK and sometime KAC for example. These guys are all bought and pushing an agenda. I would say there is other influences pushing Garand Thumb probably by some peers of his. That being said I find him very honest.

Just ordered the LMT through Questar or Irunguns. If you want it get it. If you want a light gun I would also suggest an MRR or Colt LE6933. Or KAC 11.5 you could also go Noveske as well. For a 12.5 barrel. How much you want for your MR223 ?

You should drop him a line and ask him.

I currently own a MR223A3. Its 14.5 inch and weighs 10.5lb with a aimpoint PRO. I'm looking for something lighter, but also piston system. The LMT MLCPS has caught my eye so I was wondering if there was any LMT dealers in Canada.

The LMT likely won't be lighter in piston form than the HK. I believe they will be about the same. LMT and HK aren't light firearms. These things are to combat standards, so light is less critical.

If you're looking for lighter but also piston then the PWs is probably a really good bet. It's supposed to be very well balanced. I've never shot one so I can't directly compare. The few PWS parts I've used were well made.

Another option that is fairly rare is the ADCOR. It uses a hybrid piston system that feeds off the barrel like a DI gas tube to a piston system that is in the free float handguard instead of attached to the barrel. They shoot very well. DI accuracy with the benefits of a piston system. The only piston system AR rifles I have are the HK MR308 A3 and two ADCOR AR15 rifles with 16" barrels. Mine have the older style handguard. The newer one is lighter. But I like the older one. Again, really hard to get these without ordering them in from a third party. Saskatoon gunworks was selling them ages ago. Not well known and not the same following as these other brands. A lot of fun to shoot though and a unique design.

The ACR is actually another consideration, although I still prefer an AR rifle.

From what you've listed, I would actually think the PWS piston rifle is your best bet. I've read good things but have never shot one. They do seem to make good stuff.

I thought Questar was the ONLY dealer for LMT? At least that is what Gene @ LMT told me a few years back. I still have my LMT 10.5". Brand new never fired, and a perfect lower/upper fit.

I asked the same question at SHOT. They have Canadian Exclusive.

I’ll read some more and decide on PWS vs LMT.
Looks like I’m gonna have to get an importer to get it for me if I decide LMT.
Not looking to deal with Questar due to the thread I linked on first page.

How does PWS compare vs LMT?

For the most part, you'll find that PWS is actually a very good system. Several agencies made purchases of them in the early 2000's for work in the field and found them to be quite worth it. The system relies on a simple long stroke piston that looks quite a lot like the piston from the AK74 and is as reliable and simple to maintain. I own a Mk112 Mod0 and have about 15-16k rounds through it. The only problem I had with it was one of the lugs came off the bolt. Nobody using it realized it until afterwards when we were cleaning up for the day. I spoke to the guys at PWS and they thought it strange that I had less than some ridiculous number of rounds down the pipe and the lug popped. They shipped me a new bolt at a steep discount from Boise that same day. Even at 15k or so, it is still stupid accurate, when I was still in my prime, I could ring a 500m MOT gong with boring regularity using an Aimpoint T1 sight without magnification. They are light, accurate, smooth and softer than even a few DI rifles. It was a far softer shooter than my SA 14.5" Carbine and almost as accurate. The way the rifle is set up you can get QD mounting hardware and jam it in all the right places for your sling options. I'd recommend a 11.5-12.5"bbl or a a 14.5"bbl for the most part.

Took a look around and didn't find anything. Are there any LMT dealers in Canada? Or is it gonna have to be a custom order kind of thing?

Just bought a LMT MRP 5.56 16' upper (no bolt/carrier) from Brownells @ $599 USD, got IRG to do the import for me.

If you have any questions about them or their support for us Canadians please don't hesitate to PM me.

Did it come with a yellow inspection/date tag? That is one thing I do not like about getting LMT stuff here. Recent Uppers I have received from Questar for example had no yellow tags at all, so no idea when it was made. Even LMT had no idea when I asked them.

I am wondering how they come if buying directly from LMT (ie. yellow tag, packaging, etc.) and having it imported.

Brownells does seem to like to add their own packaging though I see.

I can let you know for sure once it arrives in the Jan import from IRG.

For the tags from Questar, pretty sure one was attached to the MWSE rifle I purchased from them in 2015, but honestly can't recall and haven't purchased anything from them since.

Thanks for the info and the story.
Tough choice deciding between the two imo.

Hopefully the dealer that gadget mentioned open up to commercial sales too.

Thanks for the offer General Brock. Will send you a PM if any questions pop up.

Well looks like Questar has lost its place on the top of CGN advertising webpage. How the world changes.

I’d also refer people to this ridiculously misleading ad and think long and hard if you want to deal with someone that would attempt to offload product on the unsuspecting.

Hey I remember that!

I was the one that emailed them and told them to list in the ad that it was an ACR takeoff barrel when they did those stainless swaps. The gas hole was too small and I had to take it to a gunsmith and have the hole drilled to the proper size.

Last time I ever ordered from them, they were selling them as premium high end stuff. Absolute blatant lie. After the original owner left the place went downhill right into a dump.

I kept hoping they don't make enough to re-up their CGN business license and be a black mark on this site, so might look like my hoping finally helped!

They tried dumping all over me in a thread for mentioning that no barrel should need the gas port drilled and that already being drilled for taper pins is actually a negative. Said they were AR experts and what do I know. They also claimed that they didn’t know the manufacturer and couldn’t remember where they came from. Just found them in the back. Once I realized it was an ACR barrel and said as much they just went silent. Very classy outfit.

Wish I could find that thread. It was a guy looking for an affordable barrel and someone suggested that one.
