They tried dumping all over me in a thread for mentioning that no barrel should need the gas port drilled and that already being drilled for taper pins is actually a negative. Said they were AR experts and what do I know. They also claimed that they didn’t know the manufacturer and couldn’t remember where they came from. Just found them in the back. Once I realized it was an ACR barrel and said as much they just went silent. Very classy outfit.

Wish I could find that thread. It was a guy looking for an affordable barrel and someone suggested that one.

Yep, when I emailed them and told them what the deal was, they didn't try and do anything other than hide it. Said it was a manufacturing error or something. I told them I knew it was one of their ACR takeoff barrels and they needed to put that in the Ad or I would contact CGN and file a complaint with Canadian Advertising standards...

What they did was make that goofy little BS part about .04" gas port ready to be machined lol. glad to see those useless guys off this website. Being blatantly dishonest and outright lying has no place here!

When I got that barrel it was pretty much the only nitrided CHF barrel you could get (right in the middle of the US panic buying) and I'm still happy with it, despite paying way too much. But as I said, last time I ever dealt with them as a company.

See a few DI recommendations. If OP is not 100% set on piston, I recommend the Daniel Defense m4v7s. It's REALLY light, just a little over 5lb if my memory is correct. I have had a mk18, the v7s is very balanced and lighter than the mk18. Being 11.5'', I think you will have a much smoother operation than the mk18's 10.3 as well, which used to spit gas and carbon to my face pretty violently.
