LMT or Noveske???

I am torn between getting either the
LMT CQB MRP Rifle Pkg, 16' 5.56 NATO Marked CL

or

Now this would have to be or the 16" limit so I do have any real finger cramp's when going down south dealing with paper work or taxes. Also this rig can not be for looks. I need function.
I would like to hear from real owner's of what they like and dis-like about each rifle platform. Also please don't give me the mil-spec/non-mil-spec bs cause I don't care or you got to run an AR piston platform. As I only have $3,000 or so to spare on the rifle as I already own the goodies that will be going on it. So any info such as one barrel better than the other? Or one lower has a better stock trigger installed. Or maybe one has a more solid rail design than the other ect. Also any other high end AR that comes with this monolithic rail please chime in. But not tier 2 type bs please only rifle's in the $2,500 plus range please.
Thanx CGNer's cuase I am really torn tring to buy my next complete monolithic DI AR.

If I was in the market again I'd take a good look at the CORE 15 product. Price is right.

Of the 2 I'd go with the LMT since I'm a owner/operator.
 
I own a Noveske upper, and a few miscellaneous parts from LMT, either will serve you better than most on the market.

I've shot both and owned an MRP for a short time - both were really nice rifles. I sold the LMT to my cousin because he kinda fell in love with it.... you know how it goes. I have lots of other ARs so no great loss. My take:

The Noveske uses an arguably better barrel (more match-grade than the LMT) and the LMT barrel inter-change system that relies on accurate torquing of easily shear-able socket head cap screws that cost $18 a piece to replace. Also the torque wrench LMT ships with these is a $5 princess auto piece of chinese cr@p, so if you go LMT, invest in a real torque wrench and order a spare set of barrel interchange screws.

I would PERSONALLY favour the Noveske, but in general, both are good choices.
 
Wow both are really nice. From what I understand LMT makes more of their parts in house than Noveske, if that is important to you.

I recently just sold my MRP to get a Noveske, my thoughts...

1. The rail on the MRP is narrower then the Vltor/Noveske rail. Its actually quite a big difference, I don't have a preference either way, both felt good. I guess if I had to choose Id pick the Vltor/Noveske rail but only because I have bigger hands.

2. Both rifles shoot incredibly accurate and run very smooth. I run either red dots or 1-4 optics on my AR's and both of these rifles have performed exceptionally well for me. No complaints from either.

3. Claven is right, the torque wrench supplied with the MRP is a joke, do NOT rely on it for anything.

4. Both companies have industry leading standards and both companies stand behind their products so no worries there.

5. Fit and finish on both rifles are top notch, incredible works of art.


...In the end both rifles are at the top of the chain. Choose the one that catches your eye and looks the best to you because when it comes down to function they both get the job done and then some. OR flip a coin, either way you can't go wrong...

If you want to try .300 BLK - MRP would be the way to go as the .300 BLK barrels are coming out soon.

Thats where the MRP shines - want .300 BLK swap the barrel and bolt (even tho same bolt works but I'm gonna keep 5.56 bolt and swap in another bolt for .300)

So if the barrels on the Noveske are the cats meow. Can they be placed on the LMT rifle?
If I choose the Noveske can I swap out barrels as easly as on the LMT?
Does the Noveske lower come with a better trigger group as opposed to the LMT?
Witch company does the import's or sells these rifles?

I don't think anyone is doing the conversion here in Canada.

In the US there is a company that will convert any barrel into MRP compatible.

The Rock Creek MRP barrels are not slouch either even tho they are chrome lined.

There are stainless steel MRP barrels available...

Noveske is more accurate barrel for sure.

The MRP is what you might call a "quick change" barrel carbine. You undo some bolts, pull out the barrel, slide in a new barrel, re-tighten the bolts. Depending on calibre swap you also need to change the bolt in the BCG.

The Noveske is not really a "quick change" in the same sense the MRP is.

Noveske uses match grade bbl's and the MRP barrels while LMT barrels are more "service grade".

As mentioned, it may be possible to convert a Noveske bbl to MRP pattern, but why bother? Just stick to a calibre you like and buy the gun you like. The MRP only really jumps out of front if you intend to do a lot of calibre swaps without wanting to change the whole upper.

Frankly, a whole upper is not a lot more money than the parts to re-calibre your MRP ;)

I didn't say you could build it for $500, I said "not a whole lot more than..."

Personally, I'm not a fan of quick-change calibre uppers. YMMV.
