LMT's 308 MWS

More restrictive USDOS export permits

Distressing news you posted today. Is this going to be a problem for the first order of these w/ FH and the Sopmod stock? I'm hoping that you already have export permits for these.

We're not happy about it but there's absolutely nothing we can do...
State Department does what they want and when they want. At this point nothing is assured... all we can do is wait and see what happens. It is our hope that we'll be able to get and make delivery on the units we've already booked orders for... as for new orders, we are updating the website now and taking off many of the affected items.

Those who have previously placed orders for affected items will hopefully get deliveries as planned but until the items are physically here it's always possible that the door can be slammed shut so best to just wait and see.

I see you've removed these from your website. Even if they forbade the FH, and collapsable stock for export, the rest of the firearm wouldn't be a problem would it. Technically it's just like any other semi auto AR10.

Ow, so no SCARs? Can SCARs be ordered through Belgium?

They must have had student interns working at the DOS.

Except that State Department is also saying no to anything with 7.62mm chambering so that would mean no new permits for 7.62NATO or even 7.62x54R or 7.62x39mm, etc.. We are trying to get clarification on that but their wording was "7.62mm" so that just about covers everything and if they apply that to everyone's export permits then that would mean no AR10's or anything else that will chamber a 7.62 cartridge (bolt rifles, etc.)... which is kind of ridiculous but who knows what they're thinking or why they are pursuing that sort of blanket restriction.

Maybe this is a continuation of the new President's (and the new Secretary of State's) anti gun policies... your guess is as good as mine.

So is the LMT 308 dead? were/are there any coming before the DOS shut the door?

LMT 308 is alive and well. Our first one arrived today :)dancingbanana:) and we are expecting to receive more in early June and start shipping customer orders at that time.

The gun and barrel are both marked .308 so there are no caliber marking issues with the new DOS restrictions. In order to export units we will need to make 2 other modifications in order to comply with the recent restrictions...

We have a shipment of PWS Compensators on the way to our US office and those will be installed on the rifles in order to comply with the restriction against Flash Hiders. We are also making arrangements to replace the adjustable SOPMOD stocks with fixed SOPMOD stocks (same as are used on the "Compliant" Defender 2000 rifles).

There will be some minor adjustments to the pricing (to cover these additional costs)... even with the change the gun is still phenomenally priced in comparison to everything else given it's features and performance.

With these changes the guns will meet the DOS restrictions and we will be importing them for civilian sale. The website is being updated and we'll be taking new orders soon based on these changes.

Sounds like they need to be shipped 'complete' and can't be exported without a stock or muzzle brake then, eh?

How many rifles did you get?
Are these same as the pic on the website? or do they have the blk barrels?
