In B.C. are you allowed to have a loaded gun with you on your quad say in a kolpin boot or rack?
I know in other provinces they require license plates so I would guess that would be an issue but in B.C. there is no licensing for quads (at this point).

It's got NOTHING to do with licensing, plates or anything like that.

It is flat out unlawful to have a loaded firearm on a motor vehicle.

Or a bicycle for that matter.

I often hunt by bicycle and have had deer get away from me as I stopped my bike, got off, fumbled for ammo and loaded my rifle.

I'm not complaining. It's a good law, for a lots of reasons.

we may not have license plates in bc as of yet but certain groups like bcatv are pushing for it, also it is mandatory to have third party liability insurance to travel any bc forestry service road. The real question though is will it be legal for me to hunt from a wheel chair this year as I am due for ankle surgery again next month????? or do I have to get the good foot on the ground before I can load my rifle.....

I am a member of ATVBC and am aware of the impending government BS about registering.
I kind of new the answer but something I read this morning got me thinkin, usually a bad thing :D

Having a loaded gun on a motor vehicle is always a bad idea. Put 'ethics' and law aside, it's a real 'life and death' issue, unless you think your life is less valuable than a running game.

Having it loaded in a vehicle isn't unsafe, having it loaded with one in the throat is.;)

"...Ok dumb question..." No it isn't. Nobody wants your next posting to be from one of Her Majesty's Prisons. Or to hear that you lost your PAL, hunting licence and Quad.

Only yesterday getting of the subject of loaded guns on a quad it is prohibited to do this on the other front our local newspaper has our MLA Bill Bennet calling for liscensing our quads for off roading here in British Columbia he says it is crucial to keep our enviroment and also limited access in certain areas and all that other stuff that goes with it just thought you guys would like to know

You cvan have a loaded gun on a horse.

I would suggest to keep the chamber empty, unless you like walking.;)

I thought you couldn't hunt from horseback. Can you shoot from horseback?

Are you talking legally? Of course you can hunt from horseback in BC. It's a great way to hunt.

You can shoot from your horse if you are felling brave.;)

In Ontario
"Vehicle means any kind of vehicle that is driven, propelled or drawn on
land or ice by any kind of power, including muscular power, and
includes the rolling stock of a railway." & you can't discharge from or have a loaded firearm in them. there are exceptions for the physically handicapped and mobility restricted. guess this cuts out bicycles - and i'm not sure if this includes horse back riding (whose muscle power are we talking about here?)

You can discharge from a canoe - as long as it has no attached motor.

I think Sask is the same. Hunting from horseback would offer a lot of advantages.
