Loading 5 + 1 in SKS?

Is it possible to load an SKS to maximum legal capacity of 5 +1 rounds?

Or does the fixed magazine set-up make this impossible?

I tried that once and it didnt work...
Doesnt really matter though, when youve got a lot of stripper clips loaded and a crate of ammo and a whole day at the range.

You run the risk of a slam fire though "on civi ammo"

I'm thinking the bolt would have to be some nasty dirty to clog up the firing pin enough to cause a slam fire.

I ve had two with SKS and a 3rd burst with my M1 garand "there very real and scary "

Like I said there more likely with soft civi primers

nope, on soft primers even a light nick can cause them to go off

My Garand bolt was very clean and shooting federal 30-06 was pretty scary "winchester was fine though"

Just drop one into the chamber and hold the 5th round in the magazine down as you close the bolt.

I had a "3 round burst" while shooting my Norinco M14 at the range, may have been the one single time I was thankful of a pinned mag hahaha
Slam fires are real, not very common, but they do happen.

Then put a round in the chamber and press the 5 rounds in the magazine down with your thumb while you pull the bolt back, releasing it from the bolt stop mechanism.

Hold the 5 rounds down until the bolt clears them, then let the carrier go.

You are now 5+1 in your SKS.

Ride the bolt till it has gone past the rim of the top cartridge, remove digit pushing down on rounds in the magazine, let the bolt go, no pinched fingers.

Not a problem if the user has the muzzle pointed in a safe direction. The marginal possibility of a slam fire wouldn't (doesn't) prevent me from doing this all the time....
