locating Lee-Enfield No. 1 Mk III wood

Anyone know of a source for decent complete furniture sets for Lee-Enfield No. 1 Mk III?

They get pricey on ebay for a good set or even just a good forend...but it's about the only place to find them. Numrich has some sets but I've heard mixed reviews about what you'll get...

Yeah I got a new set for the #4 from Numrich,New but mixed wood :puke:

Its too bad there isnt someone who sells reproduction furniture,Even though its just for a shooter but I want it to look half decent anyway.

post an header in EE for one
e bay seem s good watch out for ishpore stuff unless you want it
and if you get a set that doesn't match try leather dye ( i hear that works for matching stuff up ) just let people know what thier getting if you sell

I bought a set from Numrich a few years ago, It was ok but needed a bit of work, better than the chopped stock that was on there before.

I have interesting news- I heard tell that AIA is going to be selling repro wood sets of the same beautiful wood found on their No 4 Mk 4 rifles, ready to drop an action into. Might want to wait for that...way better than some old Ishapore screwed junk...no idea when this might happen or how much, but if true they'll probably sell a set or three...

There's also bdlltd.com for Enfield/Brit.Commonwealth stuff.

Used or DP(DrillPurpose) stock sets are ...used , so you have to expect dings and bruises . Most of these are Ishy FR's.
Numrich and SpringfieldSporters also have unissued stocks sold seperately .
There might be some minor final fitting , but nothing a dremel and a fairly steady hand can't handle.
More money , of course , ( make a phone call to them ! ) , but less the worry and I found shipping to be a decent price as well.
Not to mention selection..

It should come over the border just fine. Please let us know what you get, with pics if you can. I could use a set myself. :)

You wood think(pun intended) that there wood be an enterprising woodworker out there making stocks as a sideline? I am surprised there is not a factory somewhere in china.

What did you get? I thought about ordering a set from them...

I got repaired wood that was chemically stripped, some all stained, one pice hardly took it, one pice was left with it running and not wiped off, one was rubbed on and wiped off. The forestock loer was repaired. There's no way I would have bought it if I had seen it beforehand, I was shockjed when it came in.

See my earlier post about AIA- they may come out with teak repro sets including everything, so I heard. Ask Marstar if it's actually happening.

Sounds like a load of cra*. That's one thing I don't like about Numrich, you order and get whatever the order picker finds at the top of the pile. No choice, I don't like it.
Did you return it?

LOL, "load of cra*." I though you meant me when I first starting reading...
No, I didn't bother returning it, seemed like too much trouble, and I have a worn out no3 I can stick it on whenever I get around to staining it closer. I might have gotten results had I gone through the effort, but I feel I shouldn't have to, I should get a decent from the start, so I feel justified in criticizing them. I'll look for my camera and post pics if you're interested, maybe my bitterness is leading to hyperbole. But I should have been notified about the repair at a minimum, and the QC regarding stain application is atrocious.

I was doing so well dealing with this, now the wounds are open again :p

Sorry guy...I bought a No 4 forend set, it's that CE1967 stuff and it won't even go on to a No 4 action...I'm contemplating using it for firewood...I know how you feel.
