Traveling to Ontario for 2 weeks in July and I'd like to see the site of the old Long Branch factory(torn down I'm told:() and the range. I believe the range was located in Mississauga while the factory was located in Etobicoke. Anyone have the GPS coordinates for them?

I don't have exact GPS coordinates for you but I do know where the old plant and firing range was (is still ?). They made a public park out of the site though I think part of the original factory area is still fenced in and not open to the public. I also think there is a bike/walk path that snakes it's way through the old firing range which has been closed down. All you will really see now is the old water tower.

When you get into Toronto and are going by Taxi, just ask to be taken to Marie Curtis Park in Mississauga.

Here is a shot from Google maps.

Hope this helps.

I just opened up Garmin Mapsource on my computer and picked a spot right in the middle of Marie Curtis park. The coordinates are:

N43d 35.716'
W79d 32.637'

Hope this gets you there.

You can drive to the end of Marie Curtis park and go for a walk and see the rifle butts, The baffles can be seen on the Google picture where the rifles were tested.

Someone had a link a couple of years back for Google Earth, that had the Long Branch location on it, now I can't seem to find it:(. If anyone knows where the baffles are on Google Earth, I'd love to have the coordinates.;) I'm looking all over Google Earth and can't seem to locate it.

EDIT: Just found it! Here are the coordinates if anyone is interested. N 43 34.980', W 079 32.803'

On that Google link provided, if you zoom into the northern edge of the chain link fence by the bus stop, there is a guy tresspassing. He just walked through a huge hole cut into the chain link fence. Grey shrit & blue pants. Drives a gold 4-dr (plates covered).

Good place to park and go see whats left.

Intersting story - anyone remember Caina Company? Back in the 90's they were a century re-seller in Ottawa. They renamed them selves a year or two back to... you guessed it... LONGBRANCH! Caina Company own the Longbranch name.

I can't believe how unbelievably tacky and inappropriate it is to have a third-rate surplus dealer who sells nothing but Czech and Chinese imports these days branding their Stuff Longbranch, but there you have it.

If you have a look at the two google map links provided, have a look at the bottom right of Marie Curtis Park. You will see the bike/walk path cut through the foliage and through some, what appears to be, large concrete blocks. I think (someone correct me if I am wrong) this was the old firing and testing range for Longbranch.

I put in those coordinates and it centers on some facility to the south of the Park but I'm not sure what it is from the aerial view.

Here, look at this.

How does anyone own the name to a geographical location, They can call themselves what ever company the want with the word "Longbranch" in it, and like you it's a travesty to the good name Longbranch

Are they even in business anymore? They use to have a web site.

They are still around, but no idea if there's a website. Caina switching to longbranch would be equivalent to me doing gunsmithing full time and calling myself WW Greener. Leaves a pukey taste in your mouth, don't it?

Edit: A quick goodle says they're now located in Carleton Place, just outside of Ottawa, and they are registered officially as "Caina Longbranch Defence Systems"

If you're in Toronto you can also find the location of the old Inglis factory. It was in scarborough at the corner of Pharmacy and Eglinton I believe. There's a Walmart super-center on the property now

Trying to find concrete information as to the location of the scarborough location of the Inglis plant.
However, their largest factory was just west of Straghan Ave downtown toronto. Here's a site that I found with the area's current plans... http://www.bricoleurbanism.org/whimsicality/development-in-toronto-part-iii-inglis-lands/ And another with AWESOME pics from the war, as well as more recent pictures http://www.pbase.com/mrclark/inglis_factory_ (here's your Inglis sign CanAm! http://www.pbase.com/mrclark/image/23584444)

Damn, now I want an Inglis marked Bren! :D

Very sad to see the site being demolished, I remember seeing the construction vehicles down in that area but I never really knew what they were doing.
