Long range 22LR

I'm using Wolf/SK ammo now, it feeds better and is just as accurate. Actually, the SK Match Pistol Special seems to be even more accurate. Get 4 holes touching with one opening up to 3/4" with it. Haven't tried any kind of sorting yet to weed out the flyer...

The limiting factor for shooting at extended range is the shooters ability to dope the wind. I was shooting yesterday at various ranges. Good ammo at 25 yards would shoot .5 MOA and bulk stuff would shoot 1 MOA. Conceivably if we extended the range to 100 yards the bulk stuff would shoot into an inch. However this is not the case. A 10 mile an hour crosswind could move the bullet 8 inches or so, and if it changes directions it could send another bullet flying 8 inches or so. My sub moa shooter can be shooting 16.5 inch groups at 100 yards. With lousy moa ammo it could be shooting 17 inch groups.

My point is that the load and the rifle are not nearly as important as the skill of the shooter in doping the wind in shooting at extended range.
