Long Range Canuck and Danger Deb go .50

A most awesome rig. Good thing he didn't build you a repeater. Now that would be expensive.

You can ask IVO about his trip to the mile with his 338 Lapua. A very nice boulder has your name on it. I bet yours will leave a mark :)

Yes, we can shoot further then a mile where I go. I have shot to 1800m and that was at the base of a mountain. Only another KM to go.

I hope you two make it down next spring although I don't think I can afford to have you guys visit every year.

Jerry

PS before, you know who gets too far along on the AR based rigs, look into whether it will still be restricted because it is based on an AR lower (even without a mag well). If so, that is going to limit any useage as there are no BMG ranges in Canada (please correct me as I hope I am wrong).

Yep, there certainly are .50 BMG ranges in Canada. Ours, Genesee, (West of Edmonton) is rated for 20mm! check out the Canadian Link below!

Cheers,

Ben

Ben went through this with his Ferret 50, I'm sure he will weigh in on this, but I believe he got it derestricted without too much hassle. - dan

Hello Jerry Fort Mcmurray fish and Game range is .50 friendly also, just use respect on the gongs and such and keep to frangible ammo. That AP stuff makes a mess of gongs and is a total lack of respect to other shooters who use them. Plus would hate to loose the privalage.

As far as the AR lowers being restricted I believe has more to do with the Feret and other platforms being able to be used on an AR-15 as well as the .50. I have no details on it, other than it's in a planning stage and will not be interchangeable with an AR/M-16 system.

I was contacted by LRC as soon as he got this rig, and was informed that he was shooting nothing but Amax's at the range.
We have in the past seen some damage from FMJ ammo, not just 50's, and most know that if they are cought wilfully cratering the gongs and silhouette swingers, they will be gonzo from our range and never to be reinstated as long as I have a say on the executive!
LRC is also very respectful when shooting his 300 with the brake, warning the others on the line, some shooters are not.

When we hold competitions , I tend to get the braked up guys shooting alone on the line, as some will not even attend a sfiring line when there is a braked rifle there.
DCRA prohibits them them for a number of reasons, competitor concentration and dust storms being two!

LRC good to see you've gone to the big league. It's a b#tch keeping up to you man. Congrats anyway. I can't help but feel a little responsible for the purchase of your new machine. I know you'll take good care of it and let me know if you need some reloading done.
I've got a 50 with my name on too. It's just going to take some time to make it non-restricted.

Glock-a-maniac you have definately been resposible for pointing me in the direction of total trigger happy corruption.:D There is already a big .50 hunt in the works for this fall out your way at extended ranges would be great to see ya there.:dancingbanana: (there's something about that bannana) If you read back a few posts there is talk of one person who had his de-restricted and it may be an option for you. Check into it.

I actually heard the real story of how LRC&DD ended up with the new rifle. One should never laugh that hard at work. That's what I get for talking to Him. He's trying his damndest to convert me as well. Might have to give one a whirl on these northern beasties.

Well if that made ya laugh thats how every gun purchase we ever made goes!! :) But if you realy want to laugh ask our Buddy how he likes Christmass and Birthdays and tell him It's comming around again.:p :) :dancingbanana: :D

Welcome to the game. Saw your rifle (or twin) at the Genesee shoot. Hopefully see it again next year - on the line.
I'm 5 hrs away from ya.
Had the AR50 for several years and like it - shoots much better than some of the horror stories you hear about them.
I'll PM if I ever head up that way. In the meantime, let me know if I can be of any help with reloading etc.

it likely was his rifle you saw there. As I heard the story it barelay made it out of the case at the gunshow in McMurray, then was quickly shoved back in the case and absconded with.

Thanks for the offer Dmay, may be taking you up on it. Call anytime your in the neiborhood and I'm sure I will be at Genosee for the next one.:)

Skip...couldn't afford to shoot semi auto, besides everyone knows the precision is in the bolt actions;) .... Semi's keep heads down, Single's take them off!!:runaway: :runaway: :D

Scott if you mean haveing a wife that can appreciate a rifle like that and understanding and enjoying the need to have one. Yes I'm doing exceptionaly well!!:D :D :D :D :D :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana:
