Mutt, has there been any talk of running Magnum calibers and hybrids together while having a seperate catagory for non-magnum calibers?

it really difficult to make catagorys. lots of shooters are running 300wm/280ai/260ai/6.5-284 it is hard to expect people to shoot a 308 and try to keep up. at the same time how fair is it to run a fully custom 308 against a factory rem 308 they are both the same calibres but are nowhere near the same gun. so i will talk with the boys and we will make some changes to the catagorys

Why not make it "custom" and "stock". As long as the action and barrel are factory its "stock" and anything else is "custom". When it comes to caliber choice, its more of an individual preferance. If the team is running one of each make it "mixed" Now, you just got to come up with either a handicap system or run teams in different classes. Wow, I bet you didn't expect this much planning :p

Seriously though, we are only shooting at 1/2 MOA targes at the least. There is no real theoretical advantage if your factory gun (1/2 MOA) can do it. Therefore, most targets should be doable with a factory gun. I know my Savage was factory and I did fine... I on the other hand let it down ;)

X2

Were trying to hit targets, not trying to get the smallest group, skill and team work is what wins a match like this. Lets put it this way, I'd put money on a team shooting cheep factory rifles, know their gun's and practice lots together over a team who own $$$$$$$$$ rifles and never shoot or practice.

I say bring what you have, and if you don't like what you have, get something else. Lets face it, the difference's in caliber and rifle quality is nothing compared to the difference's in shooting/spotting skills and team work.

I will admit if two teams are equal, then shooting with a .308 or any other balistaclly challenged round is a disadvantage but not very much compared to skill level. The .308 probably has the worst ballistics for any typical long range cartridge yet somehow remains one of the most popular for this type of shooting:confused:. Because a lot of guys want to shoot their .308's maybe their should be a bit of a handy cap. How about every shooter with a .308 gets an extra 15 points added to there score for each round they shoot? Don't think it would change the outcome very much but it should even out whatever disadvantage a guy has shooting with a .308.

Just an idea?

What do ya think Mutt-Fraud:eek: oops I mean -roc.:D

Dave......according Mutt's first post you guys are only shooting out to 700m. I can't see how the 308 would be at a disadvantage over any other cartridge allowed. Now if you guys were shooting out to 1200+ yards....I could see your point.
