Long range in Alberta

That might worth it. Drive out there and have a look. Bring cash with me in case I see him. Do they lock the gate? Or do they even have a gate? Could you PM the directions and details? I will head out there tomorrow and bring my gear in case I can shoot. If it looks ok and I cant shoot then I can buy a pass on Monday and head back out I guess.

Not to rain on your parade, but the Genesee Range is for CHAS/ LFGA members and invited guests only. There are no day passes sold either on site or by any local gun shops. Yes there is a gate and it is locked. The gongs have been removed due to riccochets. Members are expected to wear their range cards in a visible location at all times when on site and to abide by the range rules, so if you show up as a non-member, enter the premises and start shooting you may be asked to leave or have your vehicle licence plate noted and reported for trespassing.

At $70 per year, CHAS membership which includes Genesee Range privileges is extremely reasonably priced and new members are welcomed. For more info visit the CHAS web site at www.chas.ab.ca.

No, I believe P&D sell them as well. It really is a decent range, although this is a bad time of year as all the hunters (and I am one, so don't take it the wrong way) are out doing their once a year sight in, makes for crowds. On the plus side, not many hunters shoot at the longer ranges. - dan

as far as i know there is still gongs from 200m to 700m and there is alot of changes that will be made to the gennesse range in the 2010 year that will improve not only the shooters experience but also help things run smoother and safer.

I didnt head out today as planned to sherwood park so I will pick up a pass tomorrow and head out there. Should be fairly empty I would think during the week??

Geez I wish I could get my land deal going already. FAWK. Went to PD. They dont sell passes to Genessee anymore. I asked them before and they didnt but figured after the post above I would try again. Then went to Lock and Load. They are closed Sundays and Mondays. So I am packing up my crap and heading back out to Sherwood park for the day. FAWK!

Sure if it has a new 2000 sq ft house on it. I found some land out by the farm I could buy for about 125,000. 1/4 section. It would do the job nicely. If the planets align properly in the next couple years it will be mine.

Finally got my pass to Genessee today and went out. I like it out there. Going out to 700 felt good once I was informed of the first targets being 200 and not 100 or 150 like I was thinking.
