I need advice from some of you walking Enfield encyclopedias.
A longtime family friend has shown me a Longbranch Enfield in excellent condition that he hasn't been using in ages. It has a Parker-Hale rear peep sight with micro adjustments, a removable cubic metal protector over the front sight and for some unknown reason it is chambered in .308 but the barrel matches the rest of the rifle. It has the full-length original wood and all numbers are matching.
Have you heard of this model before and if so, why is it in .308 ? And if I wanted to make him an offer, what price range should I expect to pay for this rifle ?
