Looking to replace my old 6.0 liter ford hunting truck with something newer.

Is anyone having problems with the new 6.7 diesels....dealer say they are bullet proof but some online reports show engine problems.

Some insight from CGNer's owning the 6.7 would be helpful.

thanks :)

I have one, it now has 185000km on it, not a single issue. Reasonable mileage and tons of power. I think you will enjoy it. Mines a 2013, I know of well over 2 dozen of my friends who have one (we all run them as work trucks and personal mixed in) and we all would recommend them. More then a few of us are considering buying them out when the company is done with them. They have been that good to us.

I have a 2011 f350 with the 6.5. It has great power and great gas milage. I'm running 35x12.5x18 inch tires. Getting about 14L/100km. I have a heavy foot so the milage seems great to me running those bigger tires. There is 125 000 km on the truck only problem I had was an exhaust temp probe go on me. It got changed under warranty. In the summer I pull a 30 ft toy hauler camper loaded up. It has no problem pulling the big hills here in BC with the camper behind it. The transmission temp gauge hardly mover while pulling the the hills as well. I'm tempted to delete all the emissions but it runs so good as is its hard to justify it. What ever you do stay away from the cab and chassis versions if you read those are the ones with all the problems.

I have about the same results for fuel economy, my typical load is around 19,000lbs and it handles it no issues. I too have have the though of deleting emissions, but if it ain't broke.....

2013 with 185000, you don't stop much. :)

I think all diesel trucks will be about the same today. All brands have minor strengths and weaknesses but the major concerns will be emission equipment. If your willing to spend thousands to remove all that junk, the minor engineering flaws on trucks today is just that, minor in comparison.

A bit off topic, but my friends that own diesels all love truck hunting with me when I had my 300 I6 '96 f150 short box, or my 03 Rubicon now... Something about being able to hear outside the truck? Be a little sneaky?

2010 Ford Ranger 4.0L gas; kept first 4 yrs of fill-ups on phone app. Overall average including winter, summer, city, highway, 4x4, winter starts and idling was(is) .... 20L/100km. Window sticker said 11.x/100km highway, 15.x/100km city. Worst was one winter week with mostly 4x4, that put me in the 33L/100km range. This average was not particularity lead footed, but not eggshell on gas pedal either as it was used as a utility service vehicle and had time constraints to meet. Also tools and equipment added about 500 lbs and a ladder rack with 2 ladders sticking out on top made me as un-aerodynamic as could be.

One winter morning I left Regina headed to LaRonge. Distance is 600km but throwing in fuel stops and eats, its about 7-8 hrs. Should have made it to Prince Abert (~350km), except it was -35c going straight into a very very stiff wind. Made it to Melfort (280km) with my cabin heater putting out less and less heat, where I put 72L into a 65L tank! The fuel stop out of the wind allowed the vehicle to defrost a bit and the cabin heater regained its ability to heat normally. At the end of a week, they asked me to return to Regina at 3:30 pm; sundown was sometime around 4:30. Having been scared once, I told them they better get me a room for another night as I wasn't going to travel alone at night in the bitter cold on a road that normally has light traffic, and even less traffic in the cold, and very little cell reception for the first 200km. They were super pi**ed as they had me booked in Regina for the next day already.

Just jealous hearing that you can get 14L/100km when to get anywhere near that I would need to be going downhill with a stiff wind behind me.

Ford master tech work on them every day best diesel on the market now some issues with the early build ones but Ford worked then out by late 2011. Egr cooler plug up on the high idle hour ones and some issues with the urea set up. If I could afford one I would buy one. Any questions pm me I can tell you what ever you want to know

My 2015 f150 with a 5.0l 12l100km hyw with 3:73lol

That's exactly what m old man said too. Freshly retired Ford master tech diesel and tranny man, he said , they are a ##### to work on... Luckily it doesn't happen too often....

Btw, they are pretty damn quiet.

I was talking to someone over xmas and they said some of the new laws -- emisions if they pull you over they check emisions/computer thay will make you put it back to factory specs
that goes for exaust as well
it might be only for yellow / comercial hd trucks so don't know

my truck is as close to factory as you can get

My '04 6.0 was great, my '08 6.4 was a total lemon that melted down at 44,000 Km while the dealer was test driving it trying to figure out why it was getting 7 mpg. Haven't went back to Ford since. I now drive an older cummins as I hate all the new emissions crap and piss burners. I have more torque, and better mileage with a VP44 cummins than anything new can offer.

My 6.0l was great got 471000k with out pulling the valve covers off it. Did an oil cooler egr cooler at about 300k. 6.4l was crap but some people have been lucky with them . 6.7 is a Ford motor tho no more international lemons lol

Are they any harder to work on than the 6.0 liters?
