Looking at first AR. Any suggestions,

Sorry a couple more questions here.

1- Are the trigger/ action/ reciever pins milspec and be swapped with any aftermarket?
2- Will aftermarket barrels, gas tubes.. fit?
3- Can the front sight be replaced with a tridium post or is there "threading" issues?
4- Can the picitinny rail acccomidate any rail mounted accesories such as magpul MBUS/ eotech/ aimpoint or is there "fitting" issues?

I do understand its not an expensive gun so sorry if im being annoying here. I just want to make sure I make the right decision.

Thanks

If you're going to do all those mods, why not get an AR that already has all of those mods builtin?

My dealer after i asked him an honest assesement before buying a AR-15 suggested a DD... So i bought a DDMK18, should be here anyday now... JP.

I would take a look at Colt, FN, DD, or LMT. Another one not to discount is Sabre Defence and Armalite they turned out a nice AR. As others have pointed out it's worth paying a bit more to get double the rifle.

The "problem" with AR15 is that so many company's make them. How do you decide!!!!??? Thanks guys. I will check out some of the recommendation. As much as I would rather pay extra for a DD, i have a wife who thinks it's a waste of money.....therefore I must also think it's a waste of money ;-b Life of a single man would be so much easier! Lol

Didn't they go under?

I would wholeheartedly suggest Stag Arms. Multiple models available from basic to tricked out 3-gun rifles. ArmsEast is the feline's posterior to deal with, and they are the Stag distributor. Lifetime warranties make me happy.

Yes most of there management were implicated in a ITAR smuggling case. Sabre Defence started in the UK and had a facility in Tennessee. It is alleged they were sending parts to the UK without export permits and state department approval. The BATF were involved and the owner was extradited to the USA. Still made a good AR perhaps there are a few kicking around for sale.

Alright, sorry dudes, but Ive got one more question here regarding the Norinco. Has anyone here replaced the handguard with a Quad rail, or even with a Magpul handguard? If so, did you run into fitting problems at all? Thanks

Some drop right in and some require fitting, just depends on luck, I have a troy rail on mine that required minor fitting.

When I had one it was a right royal pain in the a$$ to change (required dremeling the handguard to fit). The delta ring ended up looking pretty bad from the scratches it received holding it back. I'm told you can change the delta ring to a milspec one and then things fit better (but I have no first hand knowledge of this). The trigger was nasty also, but I got it to let the kids beat the crap out of it (and learn its function). It served that purpose fine and is now in the hands of someone else. With them being so cheap now it can be a good starting platform. However, if you're going to change parts spend the money on a North American AR.

What is the consensus on the Sig M400 enhanced?

After months of research and shooting friends ARs I was gonna go with Daniel Defence but the price was kinda steep for my first AR. I almost gave up on them till my guy just listed the Sig M400 and 516 Patrol on his site. Did some quick research and got a decent shipped price and I dove in never having held one. I chose the simpler M400 Enhanced. I am pretty happy with it. MOE furniture, Magpul MBUS rear sight, A2 front post, 16" Chrome lined barrel and chamber with 1/7 twist. Lower has quick disconnect holes at the back. Ambi mag release. Proper staked gas key. Put 200 rounds of AE tactical thru first day at range with no issues. Hitting gong at 300 meters off hand with 3x Nikon P223 scope with ease. Combat trigger has slight creep, crisp break, and obvious reset. I have a Geissele SD enhanced 2 stage that I haven't installed yet, not sure if I even need it yet.

As far as I can tell its 99% mil spec. Bad Lever doesn't fit too well cuz lower has milling around Ambi mag release to prevent accidental mag release. It is 5.56 so it grouped better at 50M with S&B 5.56 than AE tactical .223.

I trusted the quality behind the Sig brand and I am not disappointed at all for $1350 shipped to my door.

NIce price for a Sig!

Thanks for the info on the norincos. I'm not really wanting to dremel this rifle. I've done enough of that with the SKS and cheap stocks and such. As for the sig 400, I have looked at that and really like it. I run guns sells the magpul version for about 1125$, which is really sweet. But I say dammit, it's hard enough for me to convince the wife on a damn 550$ norc AR. I get the whole, "you don't need that crap" argument. Ahh crap, now I'm getting all worked up again. I wish she shared my passion for guns. Life would be easier. Lol

I replaced mine, NO problems at all!!! Most are plug in play.
