For a cheap, solid steel 9mm pistol, the Star model B is hard to beat. At $250 on the EE with 2 magazines, mine keeps up with most of my much more expensive guns, is solid and a bit heavy, so it soaks up the recoil of the 9mm round nicely. I see that several sponsors still offer them for under $300 (plus shipping and tax) ... so a bargain, whether from the EE or a dealer. Mine has been totally reliable with every type of ammunition I have fed it. It won't replace the SIGs and Glocks and Walthers and such, but in their absence, and for a tiny fraction of their cost, it's a great pistol. 1911 style, with no grip safety. I only bought mine to see if the barrel might work in my Star BM, a more compact (prohib/fun) version. Nope, not even with a machine shop at your elbow.
