Looking for a 1-4 scope for my AR

Gas Can,

thanks for the detailed input, that is awesome.. as of right now, im just thinking of getting into 3 gun or something like that.. So 1x is important, a little magnification is important as well.. I've decided to get the PEPR mount for my M&P15 and just trying to narrow down the optics. It sucks as i would like to hold these in my hand and have a look through them as well but will probably mail order them. In all honesty the Trijicon is probably a little out of my price range, between that and the mount, with tax would be $1g. I would probably like to get something more than the DMS-1 at $290 and at the absolute top end would be the Vortex PST 1-4, at $550.

Here are a couple others i was looking at that had my interest.

The Burris Fullfield Tac30 for $427 http://www.burrisoptics.com/ff30tactical1.html

and the Leupold VX-II 1-4 for $375 http://leupold.com/hunting-and-shooting/products/scopes/vx-ii-riflescopes/vx-ii-1-4x20mm/

Another thing that is important to me is warranty, i want to have these scopes for life and all come with a lifetime warranty. Vortex seems to be hands down the winner, sounds like Leupold is up there too.. Not sure how Millet and Burris is though..

Hi-Lux CMR 1-4. Think Burris XTR at less than half price.
I like the CMR quite a bit in the AR-PEPR mount.

Or maybe a Falcon 1.5-5.

Yes, the CMR reticle is essentially the same as the one you find in the Burris XTR. ($1,000)
The Burris Tac 30 reticle is the same as the Burris AR332.

I don't have anything against the AR332 or the CMR, I own a couple of both.
AR332 for fast aquisition and CMR or more refined aiming.
They both have ability to carry out to 600 and 800 respectively.
They definitely save cash.

As much as I would love to buy the high end stuff too, for my ability, I am better off getting the CMR and a crate of ammo to practice.
Check out the reticles. I think that both are shown on the Wolverine sight or even the makers websites too.

I've owned several 1-4x scopes; Leupold, IOR (both the 1.1-4 and the 1:4) and the Millet. BUT, after I tried the Vortex this weekend, I have to say that the Vortex wins hands down in optic quality (Leupold is a close second).

I own the Millet DMS with a PEPR mount. I also own an Elcan and Trijicon, though not those in question.

I got my Millet for $250, and believe it is a good value for $250... but not much more. I don't love anything about it, but it does the job and leaves a ton of money in your pocket. I'd never go to war or compete with it, but its fine for plinking at the range.

I ended up putting an order in for a Vortex Viper PST 1-4x24. Waiting for Grouse River to get them in stock. There was just something about each scope I didn't like. The Vortex including all the electronics is warrantied for life.

Now I just have to decide if I'm going to get the pepr mount or the Adm recon 30.

My Millett sits in a PEPR, and my Vortex in an ADM mount.

I would say ADM. Heck I would take ADM over Larue...and I have a Larue.
