Looking for a GTA club

Yes.. forgot about this one.

Theres also the 2 in/near Barrie, but I dont know whether they have trap/skeet. I was also going to mention Target Sports in Gormley, but OP is looking for trap/skeet, neither of which they offer.
Would you be able to recommend Target Sports for rim fire? I was looking at their associate/occasional membership for a plinking range closer to the city.

I have an associate membership at target sports. I’d recommend it! Close proximity to Toronto, if you’re good with 25m lanes. As a member you can also bring unlicensed guests. Air filtration could be better and they’re currently updating their retrieval system. You’re not plinking though, shooting paper.

I participated in shoot for the cure at Oshawa clays this past summer (annual beginner friendly tournament) - I was speaking with some staff and they had mentioned that they lately have been showing some leniency with sponsorships. Could be worth a shot, I didn’t sign up at the time because they don’t pro-rate membership fees, but I may give it a try myself come November to see if they would allow my membership without a sponsor vouching for me.

unfortunately thanks to all the pinkos in TO you will have to spend more on gas then club membership, shooting sports have been pushed out long time ago, couple of decades ago, after closing existing ranges in and around the city, the city hall had a melt down after one of canadian olimpic shooters mentioned they were training in a gun range above the union station, that range (indoor, pistol) got. shot down pretty quick,

for walk ins Silvedale is great, if spendy, can’t help with what’s on the east end, pickering had an indoor range not sure if it still up

Im sure .22 would be ok, but if its a rifle, give them a call to make sure rifles are allowed. Ive only been in to buy things, never shot there.
You can shoot various calibers. Just no red box 7.62 x 39mm and if your shooting 12GA shells they need to be 00 buck or slug. No problems with handguns either if you’re lucky enough to own one. You can bring your own ammo, but if you rent or want to try out something of theirs your limited to purchase ammo from them which is a reasonable request.

I don't know the current status and costs of the Islington Sportsman's Club but from what I recall, they have an excellent facility but they're pricey. Last time I checked, they had a long waiting list. I've also heard they have a lot of fudds and I've heard the same thing about Orillia. I shoot at Lower Trent Valley Fish & Game. It's a 2 hr. drive each way but being retired the time isn't a factor. We don't go for an hour or two. We'll go and make the better part of a day of it and maybe break for a meal in Frankford and so back to shoot some more. The dues are reasonable and the members are fantastic! The facilities are very good and will cater to every shooting discipline.

club.

That normally means it’s Toronto…lol but he did say GTA in the subject.

Toronto international trap and skeet.

I experienced a lot of people who interpret the GTA very losely.
There was a guy from Kingston who claimed to be from the GTA, another from North Bay as well, and many many more.
Geography is not well taught (if at all) in Canadian schools.

I follow pre amalgamation demarcations.

I hate to break it to you, but as someone who spent most of their life in the GTA (Toronto, Scar., and Durham Region) it's clear firearm owners/hobbyist are not welcomed in the city. You can try Gagnon Sports in Oshawa (I was a member there for about a year and a half) but they also require sponsors (you will be hard-pressed finding any range that does not require a sponsor). I got into Uxbridge Clays without a sponsor but your first year will cost you a grand and they thoroughly vet each new member application, but they have some of the best fields I've seen.

I had to make a decision, if I wanted to continue pursuing shooting (especially at a competitive level) I had to move from the GTA, and so I did (there were a few other reasons as well, but that was a major one). If you ever want to shoot anything beyond 250yards your only option is to join a league/class that uses the Borden Military Base, or crown land hours north, but I would not be out there by myself.

I am currently a member of Orillia Gun Club which is fantastic but comes with some limitations and it is hard to get in, and will also cost you 3/4 of a grand in your first year (most clubs I have dealt with have a one-time $400-500 initiation fee).

Thanks for the +1 on this! Applied and visited the club today for a look.
No problem, it’s a good club…everyone loves TITS.

https://grgc.ca/

'Might be a bit of a crappy drive given traffic these days...

Trap, but no skeet.
'Can shoot pretty much everything else there to... .22 to .50BMG

outdoor ranges. two heated indoor ranges

Trap at GRGC sucks, only 1 field and only Saturday from 9am-12pm and a guy pressing a button when you yell pull.

Great club if your into pistol and rifle

I just joined Uxbridge Clays too; their initiation fee is pretty hefty, $750 + $750.

How were your probationary shoots? Were there any issues getting them scheduled?
