looking for a little more bang than 9mm...?

The way I see it, have a 9mm for plinking most of the time, ammo is cheap. Have a 45 for occasional big bore fun, ammo is of course more expensive, but it WILL put a smile on your face. I would skip the 40, nothing against the round itself, but cost wise, price of 40 ammo is closer to 45 than 9mm. My 2 cents!

You shoulda tossed the 10mm just to muddy the waters further.

I sold my 9mm and just shoot 45 acp But I do reload it which lowers the cost abit I just shoot allot more ammo instead I found it uses very little powder 5Gr and the bullets are the most expensive part but when you shoot 308 it can be cheaper to just buy it then reload it so its funny sometimes.

45 puts nice big holes in paper and you can see it easy. I also have a non restricted 45acp rifle and must say its very fun to shoot

9 snaps, 45 rolls, 40 tries to do both. If you want a 40, get a 10mm....otherwise by a 45, much nicer to shoot.

Or find one of the Coonan semi auto's in 357 mag.....hey....it's in an auto right?

Desert Eagle in 44 mag?:D

The OP wants a semi auto that has more punch than a 9mm and will be shooting factory ammo......

M&P45 all the way!!

It's nice to be able to score your target from the parking lot :p :D.

IS there a budget for this new toy?

How about a 357 magnum?

So what most people are saying is that having 9mm & 40 isnt really gonna provide diversity, might as well have 9mm & 45ACP ?

Why don't you just try them? Most people are telling you what they like......

9mm and .40 are not the same....just like 9mm and .45ACP are not the same.

Plenty of diversity which ever way you go.

I find .40 a bit on the snappy side but I've only shot it from lighter guns where as the .45ACP in a steel 1911 has a nice feel to me.

I'm not a recoil junky and for me the .45ACP in a steel 1911 is about perfect as far as recoil is concerned while still making big holes.
